Good morning…it’s been a busy start to the week…and I have more to share today! The Schnibbles parades were so much fun…and Sinta has published the winners post here…but come right back because I have some good ideas to share today!
The “Summer Day” blocks above are Lissa’s (thank you Lissa for all of the photos for my post today…I am still doing market sewing, and had been wanting to share some of Lissa’s ideas for a while now, so it seemed the perfect time to ask if I could borrow some of her photos)! Lissa has joined in the Schnibbles quilt along the last two months, and her most recent blocks are gorgeous; she used Collection for a Cause, Friendship for her blocks, and now I absolutely can’t wait to sew with this line. In fact, I might have to re-make “Summer Day” again after seeing these! I also love the background fabric Lissa used with these blocks which is from the Etchings line by 3 Sisters!
So here is the idea I wanted to share with you today…well…there are actually a couple of good ideas here. First, I love Lissa’s way of storing her charm packs…upright and in a basket, so it’s easy to flip through them and see what you have. I’ve had mine stacked on a shelf…and I have to take out the whole stack just to look through them.
Also, Lissa has already paired Schnibbles patterns she might want to use along with the specific charm packs…see how the patterns slip right in between the paper wrapper and the charm squares…I have started to do this. Of course, you can always change your mind, but this is such a great way to remember what fabrics you are thinking about using for a particular pattern. (Lissa’s full post about this is here).
Another great idea I picked up from a recent post of Lissa’s is the idea of having a theme for your backing fabrics each year…for instance…polka dot backings for the whole year. This is such a fun idea…and it would also help you to remember (if there isn’t a label) when you completed your quilts…quilts from the same year could be easily grouped together!
Well…I am off to sew with Joanna’s stunning new line,Tapestry; maybe I can share some pictures soon!
Also, congrats to some giveaway winners…first congrats to Ali who won the fabric bundle giveaway from Fort Worth Fabric Studio.
And congratulations to Gina who won the copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 blocks from the giveaway yesterday!
Oh, and I’ll be back with another sponsor giveaway tomorrow!
Thanks for stopping by!

That's a great idea! I have over 100 charm packs so I'm going to need a few baskets! Great idea though.

This is such a clever idea. How perfect to slip the pattern directly into the fabric pack. Also, the idea of having a consistent back ground fabric is brilliant! I like how this girl thinks! I need to take a trip over and view the rest. :o)
Enjoy your sewing. Oh my, it will be so fun to see what you have made! :o)

Thank you sherri for the shout out. You are too kind. The container is an old drying rack for dishes. My son's house is being remolded and they got rid of their old dishwasher. I made them give me the bottom rack for storing layer cakes, charm squares etc. They just laughed at me. I thought it would be funny to use for a picture but I cetainly dont have room to store it. Thanks for everything sherri!!

I love the idea for a similar backing for a year! I will remeber that 🙂

I do like the backing idea! I remember seeing her method of organizing Schnibbles on her blog- very fun idea!

I do that too with my charm packs, match them up with the Schnibbles patterns. I like that idea of background themes.

What a fun and challenging idea! Background themes! Love it!
Love her fabric choice too. I just may have to me some of that…

What great ideas. How do we get into the monthly Schnibbles sew along?
CJ says
That Tapestry line is pretty! As always, looking forward to what you are creating with it.

As a newbie Schnibbler and a charm pack virgin, could you tell me how many charm packs a Schnibble often takes. i see that this month's choice tkes two charm packs. Is this usual as I feel I charm pack buying spree coming on and I wouldn't want to under buy.

My first time here and I find this interesting! I had not heard of "Schnibbles" before. These would make cute doll quilts or wall hangings!
