Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 422: Lifestyle & More for Quilters with a roundup of inspiration I found from around the internet this week. After weeks on end of busy, I’m so looking forward to some relaxation this weekend. And of course, some sewing (I still have a couple of Birch & Willow projects to make along with some smaller things that are in my “to finish” box)! I hope you’re also getting to relax a bit and sew, of course!
Photos for this week’s post are pictures from around the house this year.

Saturday Seven 422: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
This “Do Good December” post actually shares a lot of little ways and small actions we can use to improve our health and life. And I loved the reflections in this “An Analog Life” post. I’m going to try and share more personal thoughts about that in this space next year.

2. Recipes to Try: Our Christmas Eve Dinner 2025
Many times, we end up talking about food from our holiday meals on the podcast. I thought I’d share a list of the recipes I used here so that I can reference them for our first episode in January! My thanks to all of the bloggers and cooks who share these on their blogs! This year we had our main meal on Christmas Eve because of some family members who had to travel home on Christmas. It was one of our easiest holiday meals ever because I prepped so much ahead:
- Overnight Sausage Croissant Breakfast Bake (made the day before and felt like the spinach just made this)!
- Stacked Twice Baked Potato Casserole (This was my first time making this, and everyone agreed that it’s a keeper! Next time, though, I think I will cut the potato skins up into smaller pieces to layer on the bottom of the dish).
- Green Bean Casserole with no cream of mushroom soup. I’ve been making versions of this for a few years now, and my family doesn’t want to eat this dish any other way. I tried this version for the first time, and it was wonderful. I also made this the day before our dinner to save time on Christmas Eve.
- For our main course, we had a Prime Rib Roast that we cooked using our new Sous Vide cooker. We also used this bin to put the meat in while it cooked. I feel like we will be cooking our main dishes this way for years to come. Honestly, this was our least stressful meal ever, and I think it was because we knew the meat was going to be perfect. My husband put it in the oven for about 15 minutes after it was done cooking in the Sous Vide to give it some beautiful color.

3. Quilt + Sew
My friend Lissa makes the best quilts! I always especially love her scrap quilts and was delighted to see that she has the cover quilt on the most recent cover of American Patchwork & Quilting. She will also be participating in a sew along for her quilt! The fun begins January 15th, and you can find all of the details here. And finally, here are some helpful tips for longarm quilting denim.
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I always love to listen to Laura and Sarah’s Year in Review episode. And this episode of Deep Questions shares book recommendations for the new year (I think I’m definitely going to re-read Walden).

5. A New Favorite Drink
Friends, I just have to share what I’ve been having after morning walks (and sometimes in the evening, too). I love hot chocolate, but I’m also trying to limit my sugar intake. This protein chocolate drink is not only delicious, but lower in sugar and calories than traditional hot chocolate. Thanks to my friend Vanessa for the idea!
I use this milk frother to put everything together, but you could totally mix it with this much less expensive option that I also have and love. Be sure to mix in the chocolate first, then the salt, then the protein powder last.
- 1 cup water (hot but not boiling if you are hand mixing)
- 1 ½ tsps. baking chocolate–this one is so amazing!
- Pinch of salt
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I use this one)
Mix all together and enjoy hot!

6. Post Holiday Helps
First, I loved this article with a Post-Holidays Cleanup Checklist. It had lots of helpful tips for approaching all of the cleanup, storage, and organizing that needs to happen while putting everything away. And then this post with my Best Tips for Storing (and organizing) Christmas Quilts and Decor also has lots of ideas on the post-holiday cleanup.
