Hello, friends, and happy Saturday! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 327: Lifestyle & More for Quilters post with an exciting round-up of things I’ve found from all over the internet this week. And, since we shared our Laguna Sunrise fabrics yesterday, I’m able to punctuate this post with lots of lovely photos from the new collection! More details on all of the new quilts and projects will be coming soon.
Saturday Seven 327: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I just heard that March was the new January 🙂 So here are 7 Simple Living Tips That Will Improve Your Life (now is the perfect time to begin). Finally, is there something you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t been able to begin? This post might be just what you need–it’s all about taking “the leap.”
2. Recipes to Try
My husband has been on a bit of a baking streak lately…and has been cooking up decadent delights that have me looking to make even healthier meals so I can enjoy the treats, lol! But I’m going to have to try these Cinnamon Roll Muffins soon. And this Creamy Tuscan Chicken Pasta is also on my to-make list. My healthy salad choice this week is a Mediterranean Kale Salad–hope it’s as good as it looks!
3. Quilt + Sew
Two sew along events recently started! First, it’s gather-your-fabric week for the Heart of the Home Sew Along with EQ and All People Quilt. Next week we will be making star blocks–I might have to make my stars this weekend to get ahead!
And the Moonbeams Quilt Along also just began. Find the first pattern for the Dove Blocks here. I’ll also be making those over the weekend!
Finally… my Be My Neighbor pattern which includes a large quilt and a Mini version is this month’s $5 pattern!
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I’ve been slowly trying to get caught up on podcasts and have recently enjoyed “The Invincible Power of Choosing to Choose.” I also recently listened to and enjoyed “The Email Catastrophe.” I’m currently trying to finish up a couple of books before one I’ve been waiting on for almost a year arrives Tuesday (Cal Newport’s Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout).
5. Productivity & Organization
I’m feeling all the spring-cleaning vibes these days (cleaning my sewing room a couple of weekends ago was good for my soul). First, I think I’m going to try this 15-minute nightly decluttering habit to get a jump start on my spring cleaning. This article with 2 Methods for Decluttering Books was quite helpful for me.
6. Laguna Sunrise
Yesterday we shared our upcoming Laguna Sunrise collection (pictured below and throughout this post). I can hardly wait to share even more about the collection beginning next week. In the meantime, you can visit the catalog pages for this collection here. And new patterns with this collection are in the shop now at 20% off through March 8th.
7. Recently on the Blog
Below you’ll find links from earlier this week on the blog. Be sure to visit the post on our new Laguna Sunrise fabric collection if you missed it yesterday!

Sherri and Chelsi, I love your new fabric line, Laguna Sunrise. I really like the purple. Thank you for all you do for the quilting community. I also love your videos. Glad to see Billy more involved.

Something I do when I read a blog, newsletter or even a recipe, is copy the URL at the top of the page, go to http://www.printfriendly.com and paste that URL in the textbook. It allows you to read the page or even save it as a PDF. You can enlarge the text or shrink the pictures, etc. I use it almost daily as it is a copy of just what is on the page without any videos or pop up ads.
Maryanne Richards says
I love your new collection and it has colors very similar to Balboa and Seashore Drive. I can see adding some to my bin of these 2 collections and finally use them all together.
Hannah says
Donna, I recommend reading the blog on the brave browser. It will block so many ads. It is my preferred browser for that reason.
Sheila Butler says
Do you have a video about how to choose colors that will compliment each other in a quilt (aside from purchasing pre-coordinated packets)?
Leigh K says
I agree with the reader who mentioned using Brave. It blocks just about everything.
One question about one of the recipes. I did not see kale in the Mediterranean Kale salad recipe????
