Hello and happy Monday! I’m just a little bit excited this morning because sample yardage for our next fabric collection is arriving today. So after it arrives I’ll be busy cutting out the new quilts I have designed for this fabric. I won’t be able to share for a little bit, but I’ll give you the hint that it might be my favorite so far!
On Saturday I returned
home from a wonderful week at the Winter Quilt Retreat
at Bryce Canyon,
Utah. I’ve been going most years to this wonderful event since about 2007. I had an amazing time as usual this year, and the days flew by too quickly–before I knew it, it was time to drive home. I was able to teach three classes (two Mahalo and one Beachcomber) and attend 5 different trunk shows/lectures. Most of all I was able to visit with wonderful friends old and new!
I took a lot of projects to work on and finished quite a few. Of course I didn’t finish everything I took, but it’s better to have more to work on than not enough, right?! I did finish up five more log cabin blocks I’d previously started to use for visuals in my recent log cabin tutorial post.
I also sewed some left over tumblers together for a future project…
And…I got my Splendid Sampler blocks sewn together with scrappy sashing and aqua posts. I took the inner border along with me, but there just wasn’t room in the hotel room to get that added on properly, so it will be added on along with the outer border as soon as possible (post on that coming later this week).
I did finish up 6 other blocks you’ll be seeing on Wednesday and one other project I’ll share on Friday.
I’m happy to say I’ve unpacked, caught up on laundry, and have a clean sewing room ready to go for the new projects.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love your splendid sampler. Mine is along way from being done, but was fun to recognize the blocks that I need to sew yet. Thanks for your blog and all the time and energy that goes into it. I am a regular reader but a first time commenter.

Wowee – you got a LOT done at the retreat. Your list is quite impressive, and very pretty. The log cabin block was one of my very first ones to make, and many of them turned into a sweatshirt for my mom. That was a long time ago. I'll look forward to seeing what the tumblers become and what you choose for the background on the Splendid Sampler – but anything would work with that. You inspire me every day. Thank you!

I love your splendid sampler quilt, the aqua corners really pop out. One of the things i love is to see the same design made up with different colours, watching the Splendid sampler take place has been just like that, so inspirational. x
