Hello and happy Thursday! It’s Quilting Life Mystery Block of the Month Day…and this month’s block is one of my favorites so far! Also…I have a bonus block for you today as well.
If you set your quilt on point you’ll need thirteen blocks; I decided to give you
that extra block pattern now, so you aren’t rushing to make two blocks near the end of our quilt-along. And…next month I’ll give you the November block along with the setting instructions so you can start putting everything together while you’re waiting for that last block pattern!
I used three different blues for this block, and I sure love how it turned out! You can download the October block instructions here.
For the Bonus Block I used a lot of half-square triangles left over from other blocks. I really only had to make the Flying Geese units for this one, so it went really fast! I decided to use my 2 x 4 Bloc Loc Square Up Ruler for the Flying Geese on this one and they really come out perfect! These rulers are a little pricey, but for such a common size as this one you will definitely be using it again and again (you’ll have to cut your pieces just a bit larger if you use the ruler; however, the instructions are included with the ruler). Find the Bonus block instructions here.
So…two blocks this month–I hope you enjoy sewing them! If you are new to the blog, you can visit the Quilting Life Block of the Month home page to find links to all of the other blocks!
And, I’ve had a few questions asking whether I’ll be doing another Block of the Month program for 2018, and the answer is yes…more details on that later!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'm coming in way late to this Mystery QAL and was wondering if these blocks are layer cake friendly? Thank you.

Love your blocks and so happy that you'll do a BOM next year too. I hope I'll find the time then to actually make your blocks and not just collect the patterns;-)

Oh, I especially love the double star block. For some reason I'm always drawn to the blocks that have the same design in the centre of the bigger block design. Love the fabric you are using for your blocks.
