Hello, friends! Today I have a fun assortment of things to share. I was recently asked if I might share a bit about my quilting day habits and little bit of what those days might look like. I’m also sharing the March 2026 Sew Sampler Box and a long-time work in progress from 2022! I also have a video to share the Sew Sampler unboxing and the work in progress blocks.

Quilting Day Habits + March 2026 Sew Sampler Box and a Work in Progress
A recent email asked if I would share a few things about my quilting days (the writer also asked about Chelsi’s quilting days, and I think we will both share about this one day on the podcast). Here are a few specifics about my days.
My Quilting Day Habits
1. Time to Sew
I was asked if there was a specific time of the day or day of the week that I sew. I wish I could say I sew every day, but sometimes I just can’t get into my sewing room. If nothing else is going on, I do prefer to sew in the morning. I love having natural light and being able to start the day in as creative a way as possible. If I’m able to sew on a weekday, however, it’s usually late afternoon or early evening. On Saturdays I try to make sure I’m in my sewing room from at least 9 until noon. Saturday sewing is my favorite!

2. Favorite Sewing Environment
Another question I was asked was if I like to sew in peace and quiet or if I prefer listening to music or podcasts. When I first begin sewing, I’ll usually go through my podcast library and start there. If I finish all of my podcasts and still have sewing time, then I will switch to a playlist. So, I guess I do love to have a bit of background noise when I sew!

3. Process
Another question was asked about what my favorite part of the quilting process is. I actually love all of it! Years ago, I would have said I didn’t much like cutting out, adding borders, and adding binding. I feel like now that the adding of the borders is definitely my least favorite part of the process. My most favorite part is probably putting fabric to pattern. In fact, I love that so much that I often change things up while sewing. It’s so much fun to see all of the different options. I also love binding and seeing the quilt up close. And if I have a good podcast to listen to, cutting out can be pretty enjoyable as well.

4. Inspiration
A final question was asked about what (or who) inspires me. I love the ocean, flowers, art and architecture, and even home goods like dishes and towels. I think that all of these things inspire me. I’m also very inspired by antique quilts. I love mixing a traditional pattern with our very bright and happy fabrics. And I love seeing how other designers mix prints and patterns, too! I love nature’s canvas and the wealth of inspiration it provides. I’m grateful to God for providing us with such a beautiful world.
