Happy Tuesday! I’ve started the yearly gift-making mad dash once again. This year I’ve been going about it in a little more organized fashion, though. And it seems to be working so far.
First I made a list of simple gifts I wanted to make this year. I also added notes
about what fabrics I wanted to use for each item on the list. Then I decided to start cutting out just a couple of projects a day. After I had a couple of things cut out I also did the quilting on some of the parts and pieces. Since it’s still November I’m able to take my time and enjoy making each little project. Putting these together really goes so much faster when I have the pre-sewing tasks completed.
I made these two Quick Zip Cases on the same day since they both had navy zippers…this allowed me to assembly line sew the two bags with fewer thread changes. These are really fun little bags that require just two fat quarters, Soft & Stable for lining, and a zipper (the pattern includes two sizes, and these are the smaller size…my favorite size in this pattern–it still holds quite a lot). I made some of them last year and the year before and had requests for more this year (you can see the ones I’ve previously made here and here)!
I also made these Cosmetics Clutches bags on the same day…again, assembly-line sewing these bags made it go even faster. (These are also the smallest of the three sizes included in the pattern…again…my favorite size as it perfectly holds all of my makeup).
I
have a few more little projects in various stages of completion…it’s
been nice to be able to work on these just a little bit each day!
What are your “go to” little projects for gifts?
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Lovely sewing there! My go-to is a zippy pouch too – my favourite is the Open Wide Zipper Pouch by noodlehead – I love the zipper technique & it just gives such a great result.

I love the color choices you used in these bags. The recipients are very fortunate indeed. Happy Thanksgiving.

thanks for the great idea and the inspiration to get going!! I love your aqua/navy bags. Just put some of that fabric in my cart!! 🙂 I do so much better when I can see a project actually finished: I don't have to guess how it will turn out!! 🙂 Have a wonderful Thanksgiving: I hope you will be with your children and get to enjoy that bliss!! Hi Sherri,
I like both bags, but the first one is my fave.
The May 2016 issue of Better Homes & Gardens has a fabulous, easy, utilitarian, and good looking project. It is a fringed tassel key ring using real or faux leather. I made a sample, and will be making them to give to friends & family.
It comes from Chelsea Foy, a blogger. Her blog is : lovelyindeed.com. I didn't see the key ring on her blog, but you can check it out. That's my plan.
Cheryl 🙂

These are great for gifts, I love the fabric choices. This year I have been making pouches and matching tissue holders to go with them as presents. I often also give needle books and pincushions. x

Beautiful gifts!! Loved reading how organized you are. I'm usually making coasters closer to Christmas or a last minute baby quilt.
