There is still so much to be finished in the next week…and yet I started a new quilt today!
It’s always fun to sew with Vintage Modern. I’m using the pattern “Sugar Dish” by Allison of Cluck Cluck Sew. I’m altering the pattern a bit, though; I made 63 blocks and will add a 5″ border to make a twin size quilt. I’m also not making any of the Dresden blocks. I’m hoping to set the blocks together tomorrow. This quilt is for the daughter of a friend of mine…her baby sister already has a Vintage Modern quilt, and since they’ll soon be sharing a room, big sister needed a matching quilt!
I’m determined to make a couple more tumbler projects before the end of the year as well. You might remember my Sew Cherry tumbler mat…
And my Vintage Modern tumbler mat…
And my Odds & Ends tumbler table runner. It seems I just couldn’t get enough of this shape in 2012! I’m not at all tired of tumblers! In fact, lately I’ve been looking at every collection with tumblers in mind.
To make my tumbler obsession even worse, this new tumbler template by Carrie Nelson (aka Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company) arrived the other day. I must say this is one wonderful template; I spent one evening reading the instructions cover to cover. The instructions are actually simple with a lot of terrific information to help with designing tumbler projects. So, needless to say, I had to cut some tumblers for my after Christmas sewing.
I cut up half a Layer Cake of Notebook by Sweetwater into tumblers…
I made these 5″–a couple of inches bigger than my earlier tumblers. I think this is a good size…big enough to sew together quickly, but still small enough to be cute!
I might have also cut up half of a Layer Cake of The Simple Life by Tasha Noel…I must say I have no idea what these tumblers will turn into, but I’ll definitely be sewing them soon!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

2 words: Tumbler Dresdens.

I love everything you make but will especially be watching for your sugar dish quilt finish. I've been eyeing that pattern & wondered what it would look like without the dresdens. Love all your tumbler projects. I've got The Simple Life & haven't decided what I want to do with it so will be curious to see what you make.

Very cute tumblers! You are being very ambitious to start another quilt:) But that's what happens when you're obsessed with quilting, right?

AH HA !!! The start a new quilt conundrum, LOL. I've finished two pretty large UFO's in the last 3 weeks and got them mailed off to my SIL in Oregon for the Long Arm work. I still have plenty of UFO's as I hadn't done anything but very small projects and BOM blocks for over two years…(health issues). So yesterday as I inventoried the remaining UFO's, I threw my hands in the air, grabbed a cute little Christmas table topper kit and started in! I was having sooooo much fun when the room went dark! *sigh* Only my sewing room. Well, we can't find the problem, everything in the house works except the three wall plugs in my sewing room…a sign that I should have continued working on my UFO's? …… NAW….LOL. So as soon as the electrician gets here and gets it fixed, I'm going back to the Christmas project and just for spite, I'm going to start another new quilt that I promised myself two years ago I could start as soon as I finished the two quilts that are on there way to be quilted. I'll show those pesky plugs…*insert evil laugh here*. Like you, I just can't help myself. When I see something I want to make I have to start it. Lori's Row Along is next up, with my Nine Dots from Carrie Nelson. Hugs….

OhMyGosh — you need to sit down and put your feet up. I get tired just reading your blog LOL! Looks like you're VERY busy. Love all those tumblers — maybe 2013 will be the year I finally make a tumbler quilt — it's been on my list forever.
