Happy Wednesday! Today I’m sharing the next step in the Little Ruby Sew Along sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop.
Somehow I got my dates mixed up, so I’m posting this a couple days late…
I changed fabrics for this project last minute…I’ve really been using my Desert Bloom sample yardage a lot and still have a couple more projects to get finished up with it for publication…so I opted to use some of Corey Yoder’s cute Sundrops fabric (we traded some scraps at market) for my blocks.
The rulers for this quilt are both new to me (Double Strip Ruler and Hexagon Trim Tool). I’m always happy with Creative Grids products, and these two have been great to work with for cutting and trimming. Kimberly gives complete directions in the video, so you won’t have any questions about how to use the rulers.
Basically, you begin by sewing strip sets with your jelly roll strips. Since I’m using scraps for my quilt, my strip sets are quite a bit shorter.
Using the Double Strip Ruler, you cut your strip sets into triangles. The reverse triangles can be used to make another quilt.
Then you sew the triangle sections into half-hexagon units. The directions make it super easy to follow along and know how to line everything up. That’s all you have to do for now…in two weeks we will be putting the quilt together!
You can watch the video with the complete instructions for this free quilt pattern here:
I’ve also finished up my June Crossroads Quilt along blocks…just three this month, and they were fast and fun!
It’s fun to see them all together!
Have a wonderful Wednesday…and thanks so much for stopping by!
