Blogging brings many opportunities for helping with quilts for good causes. I just found one the other day and hurried to make my block. 1800 star blocks are needed for making 100 quilts from the Minick and Simpson “Flag of Valor” pattern. Moda is coordinating the effort to quilt, bind, and donate these 100 quilts in 100 days to American servicemen and Veterans through the Semper Fi Fund. You can read all about this project at Moda’s blog here.
Download the tutorial and instructions here, then send your finished block (untrimmed, the folks at Moda will take care of the trimming) to Moda at:

I love this. I will go read more. I live in Korea and the American Spouses Club here has a quilting club that makes quilts of Valor…ver specific directions for those. Also the base we are at here in Seoul is host to the storks nest…all expecting mother's from the entire Korean pennisula come here for their deliveries and the club tries to always have a homemade quilt to give each new mother. It warms my heart.

I downloaded the star the other day. Actually, I'm going to make that quilt, so a few extra stars shouldn't be a big deal! The hardest part will be to put on real clothes to go buy a pigma pen!

Thanks for sharing this. I made my block this morning and am blogging about it myself this afternoon. And I'm going to share the link for the pattern with some quilting friends this afternoon when we get together.
