The new Fat Quarter Shop 2009 Designer Mystery Block of the Month arrived in the mail yesterday! I was heading off to sew with some friends, so I decided to cut it out right away! This months pattern is designed by Brenda Riddle of Little Acorns, and it’s a terrific block. These blocks are always designed well, and there is always plenty of fabric to make the block with left-overs to spare! In fact I had so much fun making one block that I decided to make two! Using my Prairie Paisley leftovers from this Schnibbles quilt, I decided to cut out another block. That way, when next May comes around I’ll have two Designer Mystery quilts, and I will have used my stash for one!
I can’t remember if I’ve ever shared these little pillows before; I love getting them out and displaying them in June and July. I made them quite a few years ago from a Little Quilts pattern!
Oh, and I wasn’t a very good blogger at the sewing get-together yesterday…I forgot my camera! But it was wonderful sewing (actually I just spent the time cutting fabric and visiting). And eating….the food was terrific! We had a wonderful chicken salad, delicious meatballs, an awesome salsa called “glop” and a fruit dip that was served with deep fried cinnamon-sugar tortillas…I quite possibly ate more than I worked on my blocks! Hope you have a terrific weekend!

Your block is so nice! And thank you for your speed – I am trying to decide whether or not to do the BOM (might even be too late!) and I love seeing a finished block.

Hi Sherri!
I love that block too(!) It's so simple – but ends up looking so much more complicated (love those kind!). In fact – I'm making up a bunch of these blocks to make a bedcover – out of some of my stash – (wovens from the Faded Memories line. . . ) I love how it looks with the Prairie Paisley too!!!

Hi Sherri,
Your mystery quilt colors are great and I love to make two quilts at one time. You get so much accomplished in about the same amount of time.
Love the pillows.

Hi Sherri,
The block is terrific. Mine came yesterday evening and now I can't wait. But first I have to get some cycling in….the thought of sugar, cinnanmon on tortillas….that's enough to ride a few extra miles!

Wow you are fast! I have to run down to the border to pick mine up today (along with the rest of the goodies I ordered) and then the weekend will be too full to piece but hopefully sometime during the week. I love your idea of piecing a second along with it and have 2 done in May.
The Quilt Buddy says
I love the 3 Sister's fabric. Good idea to make another set of blocks from your stash! Next year you will have another great quilt to display.
BTW-I am so far behind on all of my BOMs! I probably need a whole month to catch up on all of them!
Enjoy your weekend!

You are so speedy and inspiring! I love to do things like that, too, making two at once in small amounts and then with two quilts to end up with…did that make sense? I love your pillows, too! Have a great weekend!
