Today is the first day of the Sew, Mama, Sew giveaway! To find out about all of the other amazing giveaways going on, go here! I’m giving away 2 of my my handmade 12 Days of Christmas potholders–perfect to keep for yourself or to use for a gift! To be entered in the giveaway, just leave a comment telling me your favorite last-minute gift idea! I’ll ship to the US and Canada…entries will close Friday, December 17th, and I’ll ship on Monday the 20th!
Because of the giveaway, I’m delaying this week’s “Simple Gifts”post until Wednesday…but I do have some weekend sewing to share. First I finished this Authentic bag for my very patient daughter. I made a similar bag over a year ago that I ended up giving to my younger daughter–well, my older daughter also ended up wanting one! It’s just been one of those projects on the “back burner” until this weekend, but she now has her bag and is very happy with it!
I also made my first “Snap Happy” bag this weekend….such a fun little pattern. I’ll definitely be making more! The pattern comes in three sizes perfect for carrying Ipods, cell phones, or sewing supplies. Best of all…no zipper required!
A measuring tape is the secret to making this bag work. I’m now the proud owner of a new measuring tape that will be cut into a lot of little pieces this week so I can make more bags! Have a great day!

If it's a last-minute gift from me, it's probably going to be a gift card. I do try to keep some items on hand for those occasions, but if my stash is empty, the quickest thing for me is to grab a gift card.

Well, this is what I did last year for a last minute gift when I couldn't think of anything to add to my sister's main gift: I took an old blue Mason jar that I'd purchased at a yard sale and stuffed it with 20 one dollar bills (use any amount) and chocolate candy (Hershey kisses or Dove pieces work great). I cut a piece of fabric to cover the top and tied it on with twine and a cute To/From card. Of course the recipient has no clue how much money is in the jar, but it really is funny watching them try and count it! The gift was a big hit!
KaHolly says

Themed gift baskets tend to be easy to gather at the last minute. A gift I like to give newlyweds or young couples is a movie night basket. I get a large, colorful plastic bowl and put a few packs of microwave popcorn, several movie-size boxes of candy, a 2-liter bottle of soda and a gift certificate to the local movie rental store. I wrap the whole thing in clear or colored wrap.
Love the look of the potholders! Glad to see another "Authentic" line fan, too. I'm always drawn to fabric with writing on it!
Tiffany says
Cookies or some kind of treat are my "go-to" last minute gifts. If I REALLY like the person, they might be getting a mug and mug rug to go along with that this year. Generally last minute gifts are not for close friends or family, so I think this is a nice, inexpensive, and easy to whip-up gift.

It depends on who the gift is for. I have in the past been able to put together reasonably priced gift baskets of some kind. body stuff for a single gal, family movie night for a married gal (or sometimes body stuff).
Men….gift certificates to all the fun men toy stores bass pro, dick's sporting goods or Home depot etc.
a nice bottle of wine is always nice also.
Of course there is always Edible Arrangements 🙂
Thanks for the opportunity.
