Hello and happy Friday! I’ve been really motivated lately to work on my Splendid Sampler blocks…maybe because I can see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. Whatever the reason, I made one block a day four days in a row this week and thought this would be perfect material for a favorites post!
I had been putting off a paper pieced block I really wanted to make, and with
two more pretty simple paper-pieced blocks released recently I decided to tackle them a day at a time. First I made block 58, “Homeward Bound.” This one would be a good one for a beginner to paper-piecing to try. I really like the simplicity of the background with the pops of color.
Block 79, “Spool of Inspirational Threads” was a recent block. There was just something about the variety of prints I could use in the center section that convinced me I wanted to add this block to my quilt.
And after making block 79, block 80, the “Heartstring Star”was actually very easy. Just a little bit of paper-piecing made a big impact on this block.
Finally…I added a block to my collection that isn’t actually a Splendid Sampler design. But it is a block I just fell in love with! It’s from the Fig Tree & Company pattern “Mini Ferris Wheel,” and while the block isn’t the same size as the Splendid Sampler blocks, it’s designed in such a way that I was able to trim it down so it will finish at 6″ like my other blocks. So it’s an official addition to the quilt.
I may start cutting my sashing strips and sashing posts over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday since I’m really looking forward to putting this together after Christmas. I only have 11 more blocks to make!
You can find the Splendid Sampler block patterns here.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I love your blocks! I wonder if I could find a way to make them without paper piecing. I just really don't like that method. But your blocks are making me wish I liked it a little more.

I really love your blocks! And the new mini-wheel block is too cute. What fabric collection does the orange print belong with? Is it Chestnut Street? by FigTree?
