Happy Friday! Today’s favorites are a few treasures from my grandmother. This little wall hanging hung in my grandmother’s bedroom. It is a good example of her beautiful needle-turn applique and hand quilting skills.
I was always going to make one of these little quilts (pattern is from Little Quilts all through the House), and when I posted this photo on my Instagram account yesterday, someone shared a beautiful red and green version–pretty sure mine will be red and green!
Now I just need to find the perfect place to hang this.
I’ve always loved vintage tea towels, and I found a few tucked away in a box. It was really fun to realize that these towels represent meaningful places to my grandmother and also depict places very meaningful to me. I treasure my memories of my trip to Florida when I was ten, and I actually lived in California for the first year of my marriage.
I also love Washington D.C. (although sometime I’m going to have to go back when the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom).
And this vintage towel is just so bright and happy. Most of them are stain-free, but this one does have a stain I’d like to remove. Does anyone have any tips for laundering these older linens? I’d love to know how I might be able to spruce this one up without damaging the fabric.
Finally, Brooke at Lady Belle Fabric is having a sale: 10% off your entire purchase. Use code : easter at checkout, code expires Tuesday April 7th (end of day).
