Happy Friday! I’m so looking forward to the weekend…I finished a market quilt last night and hope to make at least one more over the next day or so! Although I can’t share the market preparation fabric and quilts just yet, I have a new Farmer’s wife block to share…and a new favorite notion to share as well!
The third and final block for this week is Block #8 “Aunt.” I rotary cut the rectangles and squares for the outer section but used the Marti Michell Template Set A for the center section corner triangles.
I put all of the parts and pieces on a design board before sewing to make sure I liked the layout.
The back…so you can see how I pressed this block.
And the finished block…I really love this one! From now on there will be just two blocks per week, so it will be easy to keep up.
I’ll probably post every Friday on my block progress…after both blocks for the week have been announced and the tutorials shared.
And…I pulled out my half-square triangle project this week because I’m asking my Bees Knees members to make me a block for this project this month…I think that I’ll just have 6 more blocks to make after my Bee member blocks come in, and I plan on setting this on point to make it an even bigger quilt.
Finally, I received a fun surprise this week from Olfa. I didn’t know they had these amazing folding mats (Olfa Folding Mat, 12″ x 17″) but was pleasantly surprised!
The mats fold in half for storage and for travel (think of all those times you want to take a larger mat to a retreat or class but don’t want to pack around your larger mat from home). Then when you’re ready to use it, just open it flat.
It cuts smoothly even when you go over the line, and on a table you can hardly tell where the fold line is…I’m a fan and will definitely be using this as a travel mat when I teach classes and attend retreats!
Thanks so much for stopping by…have a wonderful weekend!

Your Farmer's Wife blocks are adorable! I only got two of them done, but should catch up next week. I am hand piecing mine. I also love your half square triangle blocks. Some day I am going to make a quilt like that as well!

That folding mat is too cool. I might need one of those…. Amazon wish list, I am thinking.
This block is really nice, the colorful ones are even cuter.
AND the HST blocks always make me happy. I love every single one of them
