Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the A Quilting Life Block of the Month December 2025 blocks…and I’m also sharing the finishing instructions for this year’s sew along. Stay tuned for all of the details and also notes on where to find information for next year’s sew along.

A Quilting Life Block of the Month December 2025
December Block Details
This month’s block is a scrappy star in one of my favorite designs. I used a variety of fabrics and loved it so much that I made my second star center exactly the same. I used my Mini Simple Folded Corners Ruler for this one and also used Bloc Loc Flying Geese rulers to trim these small flying geese. Below you’ll find the button to download the December block. You’ll also find the finishing instructions for the quilt and the table runner option available as a separate download. (Be sure to download both files).

December Block Video
Watch this month’s block video above or watch it on our YouTube channel here. You’ll be able to see my finished quilt and hear all of the details for the finishing instructions for the large and small blocks. (I don’t have my small block project sewn yet, but hope to have that to share with my December works in progress).

2026 Block of the Month
Did you see last week’s post? I’ve shared some details for the 2026 Block of the Month sew along including a PDF with fabric requirements. Be sure to head over to the post here where you can download that PDF and get all of the details.

I can’t wait to see all of the finished quilts and projects with this year’s patterns. And I hope to see you next month as we begin the 2026 Block of the Month Sew Along.
Happy quilting!

I am so happy that you have made this BOM available for free. I have had a very rough year health wise and the blocks let me accomplish something I enjoyed each month. I will now have a quilt of positives instead of negativity each time I look at it.
Nicole Mulqueen says
Thanks so much for your BOM. Sherri you are always so cheerful. I look forward to watching your podcast and love your bright colours in the fabrics. I can’t wait to sew this blanket in our summer holidays coming up next week. Have a wonderful Christmas, full of family, food and laughter.
Lis Horn says
Hi Sherri. If I use a 108 backing, how many yards or meters do I need?
sherri McConnell says
8″ more than the width of your quilt ๐
You won’t have to piece for the length.
Vicky says
I am so thankful that you provide this BOM for free. Since I started doing these, it has made me more confident in following a pattern (HST girl – no pattern here!). I have since purchased several of your patterns (and Chelsi’s) since then.
LeAnn Ryan says
Thank you for the wonderful blocks and the great posts thru the year. I look forward to them every day. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Just participated in my first BOM with you. So fun to do just one block each month and now on to finishing it up. Thank you!โค๏ธ

Carol says
Thank you so much for this bom! I have looked forward to every month and appreciate your videos for each block. I have the 2024 bom that I plan to do each month in 2026 along with the new 2026 bom. I have kept up with the table runner blocks but instead of putting it on the table I like to display them above a doorway as a mini quilt!
LeAnne says
Thank you for these free block patterns! I love your finished quilt, it’s beautiful!
Paulette Zakrzeski says

Margarett Amos says
I really want to sew this pattern, but I lack the knowledge from the start of quilt. The quilt strips.
Diane says

Such a fantastic idea! Thank you!
Sarah Yoffa says
Yes, please, I second this idea! I’ve been doing your annual BOMs since the 2020 lockdown but I’d love to see all the variants together. And participant shares–different fabric choices make such a difference in the end result!
Linda says
Thank you for this wonderful BOM. I love your fabric collections as I feel cheerful and happy when working with them. I love your patterns and have a variety of them and all your books. Thank you and Merry Christmas โค๏ธ

Thank you so much for this wonderful BOM. The blocks are so beautiful and I have enjoyed them so much. I am looking forward to next years BOM. I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a very happy New Year. Thank you for all you do for us.
Tawna says
Thank you Sherri for your generosity. I haven’t yet made one of your quilts, (too busy with full-time job), but I will eventually be able to make them. I look forward to them each year.
Sarah Yoffa says
Thank you so much for hosting this annual BOM Sherri, it’s one of my favorites. Your patterns are always fairly simple so it’s a stress-free QAL. I moved across states and just this past week started living in my new home but am still conducting repairs and of course, unpacking. I’ve saved the files while they’re free but wanted to be sure to say a big THANK YOU for making them free for the current year! I cannot wait to unpack my fabric stash and machines, tools etc. It’s going to be such a treat to do this log cabin BOM.
Helen M LeBrett says
Hi Sherri, thanks so much for the BOM this year! I didn’t see the beginning of it this year, but happened to find this last post, and have fallen in love with it, so I’ve copied the monthly blocks and am looking forward to starting it with this coming year. Hugs from H
