Have you ever had one of those days where you wanted to sew…but didn’t quite know where to start or what you wanted to work on? Yesterday was one of those days. I decided to just “sew something” until I figured out what the “main” project for the day would be. Well that “something” turned out pretty cute, I think! I’ve had a Layer Cake of “Oink a Doodle Moo” that has been sitting on the shelf for a little while. I’ve raided it a couple of times to use some of the cute chicken wire prints for other projects–so I didn’t have a full Layer Cake to work with. I decided to go with a simple 5 x 6 layout of squares.
“Oink a Doodle Moo” by Moda is one of those collections that works just how it is…in fact, I can’t even imagine cutting up the cute barnyard prints…they are simply perfect.
My finish, so far, is a small quilt 48” x 57 ½”. I’m trying to decide on an outer border and backing, and then I’ll quilt this myself. It will be a good sized quilt to practice my machine quilting on.
By the way, working on this fun, simple project was just what I needed. By the time I finished I knew what I really wanted to work on…I’ll be back to share some snippets of that soon! Do you ever work on random projects until you are sure about what you really want to sew? Any ideas on this topic?
Thanks so much for stopping by!
