Happy Tuesday! Today I’m excited to share a few things I’ve been keeping “under wraps” since last spring! I was absolutely surprised and honored when the editor of American Patchwork & Quilting called to ask if her team could come to my home and take photos for a profile article on me and my quilting…
of course I was delighted (and more than a little nervous), but it ended up being the most wonderful day and the most wonderful experience! So, the February 2016 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting will have the profile article about me as well as a quilt I designed for the issue. Subscribers are starting to receive their issue copies, and the magazine will be on newsstands December 1st.
The profile article contains fun photos of our home (with lots of quilt pictures included). I was grateful for the article as well: author Linzee McCray has a wonderful way with words and beautifully conveyed my thoughts and feelings about quilting.
The quilt I made for the issue is quite special to me as well. It’s actually a re-make of a family quilt I was gifted a few years ago. The original quilt is in terrible condition (it was well-loved and used), and I wanted to “rescue” it by re-making it from the second I held it. You can read more about it in the magazine, and it truly is my favorite quilt right now. I have a great technique for making it as well, so don’t let the curves scare you if you’d like to make this quilt!
I thought I’d share my profile photo too…I’ve never thought of myself as photogenic, but the photographer was amazing and captured my love for quilting in this photo.
And here (above) is the cover photo of the issue so you can be sure to find the issue on newwstands.
I can’t finish this post today without a special thank you to my readers: thanks so much for your friendship and inspiration…it’s what the on-line quilting community is all about! I appreciate being able to share about this incredible past time on a regular basis, and also appreciate the ideas and inspiration you are able to share through comments and emails.
Have a great day!

Got my magazine last week but finally had a minute to sit and look at it. I am in LOVE with the fanfare quilt and am already pulling from my stash and shopping for fabric with plan to make it "next.". One question: I read thru the instructions and do not find the "B" template. Was it omitted or am I just not seeing it? Hoping to start soon. Yjanx
