My intentions were to work on bindings and borders; I was most definitely not going to start anything new! But when I got the binding on my Verna topper I remembered that I’d never made any hexagons using that line of fabric.
So I made a Verna hexie flower…
Then I remembered these Soul Blossoms hexies that needed to be basted, so I basted them and made one flower.
Then…I decided to start more hexies using Verna and Central Park…
And I decided to make a Central Park flower… (still in progress).
So…needless to say…instead of bindings and borders…I have hexies and flowers! Even though I didn’t accomplish my marathon border/binding goal…a plan did finally formulate for these hexies. I love it when you finally know what direction you’re going to take with a project! Sometimes you have to just keep moving forward until the plan takes shape!

Thank you so much for posting these pictures! I have a business finishing quilts and other projects for other people, in addition to washing and repairing horse blankets!! I am currently working on a quilt started in the 70's made with all hexigons! They are made by folding a square of fabric into a hexigon. It has been quite a challenging project as each hexigon is a bit off!! My web address is nohorsinaround.webs.com and nohorsinaround.blogspot.com

The path to our goal is rarely a straight one. (Doesn't that sound like something out of the old Kung Fu TV show?) Love those hexagon flowers! I am thinking it could be such a great "trademark" to make one and applique it to the back of every quilt next to the label.

They're like Lays potato chips — you can't eat just one LOL!

Pleasant diversions… ah, I feel your pain. Sometimes it seems if I do not stop and sketch out the new idea and then pull some new fabrics out to see how it would work in the new sketch which really means I should do 'just one' block to test the idea which really needs a few neighbor blocks for the full impact or maybe just pull up EQ6 and tinker with it for the new idea……… phew, it is dinner time!
