Happy Day | Blogiversary | Sale

Happy Friday! Happy July (can you believe it's July already?)! And happy blogiversary! Yes, exactly eight years ago I started A Quilting Life as a way to journal my sewing  and quilting projects. I hadn't been able to do a very good job of keeping track of things up to that point, and I remember thinking that a blog might be the best way to go...even if nobody ever looked at the blog but me.

I get a little emotional about it as each blogiversary rolls around, because I am

so grateful for all of the opportunities blogging has brought to me. I'm ever so grateful for the inspiration I get from others, for the friendships that have developed as a result of this blog, and for the opportunities I've been able to have because of quilting and the amazing people in the quilting world.

Because of this on-line quilting community I have been able to learn so much more quickly than I would have on my own. I  truly appreciate every comment of kindness and instruction and have been inspired and motivated by more people than I can count.

I know blogging has changed a bit since I first started. I don't think people leave as many comments as in the earlier days, but we are all so busy...and there are so many forms of social media pulling us in many directions. I do love Instagram for the ability to quickly post, share, and be inspired, but my heart is in my blog. There is just so much more you can say and share in a blog post than in an Instagram post!

My goal for A Quilting Life is to keep working to make it even better--to provide inspiration and instruction and helpful tidbits for quilters at all levels. I hope to share everything I can so that others might come to love and appreciate this wonderful art form and past time. Whether you are new here or have been following along for a longer time, I hope you'll continue on the journey!

Every summer for the past couple of years I have tried to do something to celebrate the blog's anniversary and to express my appreciation to everyone who has helped make it what it is. A couple of years ago I posted the Summer Organizing series, last year I presented the Summer Sampler project, and this year I will have a Scrappy Quilt tutorial (beginning next week).  I'm also offering 25% off everything in my Etsy shop with the coupon code AQUILTINGLIFE from now through July 4th.

Thanks so very much for your friendship and support...have a wonderful weekend!

PS...the Simple Small parade of Star Bright mini quilts will be tomorrow!

I do enjoy reading your blog! I like blog posts to read at night to settle down for sleep, and I love to read them while taking a break during the day. I get an email notifying me of a new post from you and love that feature. IG is fun for quick pics and comments from friends. Happy blogiversary. Happy BLOGiversary! I guess this is a new word! I have just been following you for about 1-1/2 years now, and I am so touched by your sweet comments and thoughts about blogging, and your readers. I love your blog, your photos, your projects, and your tips and instructions you share with us. I get so much inspiration from YOU! You are a very talented designer and quilter and I have to tell you that your blog inspired me to start my blog as a fabric journal. I started my blog as a fabric and quilt journal too. Its nice to have a record of times and quilts that I have made. Its fun too! I agree that a lot of people now I don't think take the time to read blogs, but I do. I love them! And especially yours! I love the four patch quilt by the way, I am also a fan of Fig Tree fabics!

Yay for you and your blog! It's one of my top 5 favorites, and I follow about 50 blogs, I think. Keep the posts, inspiration, and fun coming. I appreciate the time you put into it; please know that others get a lot out of your efforts.

Miss a day of A Quiting Life (and Sherri) and you miss a day of inspiration...You may be the reason I have so many things on my "to make" list and my "wish list"! Congratulations on your 8 years and here's to many, many, more!

Congratulations, Sherri on your 8th blogiversary! Your blog was one of the first quilting blogs I found, at least 7 years ago. I've been reading and enjoying it ever since. Thanks for the years of inspiration (and correct grammar and spelling).

Thank you so much for the inspiration you provide on your blog, and happy anniversary! I just started quilting in the last year, but I used to be a prolific blogger about stamping and card making, and I know it is hard work to create content, photograph, and write posts. I rarely have time to comment on blogs or Instagram these days (my kids are 8 & 10 and at their peak "busy-ness"), but I appreciate the time and love you put in to what you post. Also, I am absolutely smitten over the Desert Bloom fabrics! Rarely do I truly love all the fabrics in a collection, but this one is absolute perfection. I can't wait to get my hands on some of it this fall!

Happy anniversary! I'm a fairly new follower and took my first quilting class 40 years ago! Retiring in less than a month and can't wait to improve my skills since working full time and raising 3 busy daughters left no time to sew.
