Back in March I went to Fat Quarter Shop and filmed a video tutorial for these bags--I promise that even if you've never sewn a zipper, you'll be able to make these fun bags!
Here is the video...I think this was one of the first ones we filmed...I was a little nervous at the beginning, but once we got going it was really so much fun!
I love that one Moda Mini Charm pack (Moda Candy) will make two bags; the directions in the video are for the larger bag, but by leaving off one row you can also make a smaller bag.
These bags are great for so many things...I've used them for travel, for sewing retreats (lots of sewing supplies fit), and they are also wonderful for keeping kids treasures in on car trips! They also make great gifts for family and friends. I've used Soft and Stable in my bags which makes them good for keeping phones and tablets safe while traveling, too.
The ladies at Fat Quarter Shop have made some really fun versions of the bag, and they're also doing a sew along for this pattern. Some of the very talented people sewing along are listed below!
Tina from Emily Ann's Kloset
Jessee from An Art School Dropout's Life
Erin from Why Not Sew?
Kitty from Night Quilter
Leanne from She Can Quilt
Vanessa from Lella Boutique
Amanda from Jedi Craft Girl
Sherri from A Quilting Life
Cristy from Love You Sew
Leslie from Seasoned Homemaker
Tiffany from Tiny Seamstress
If you make the bag, please let me know...I'd love to see them! You can send me a photo or post on Instagram with the hashtag #simplezipperbag
(you can find me at @aquiltinglife on Instagram).
I'll be back later today with our Popsicle quilt parade...thanks so much for stopping by!
