Simply Charming Minis by Konda from Moose on the Porch Quilts is a delightful book with patterns for 16 mini quilts ranging in size from 13" to 21". Every quilt is charming...and every quilt is shown made in two different fabric collections. As I began reading the introduction I remembered that some of the first quilts I made were mini quilts. Mini quilts are terrific for that small space on a wall or on a table top. They make great gifts and are quick to piece. Most of the mini-quilts I've made I hand-quilted--giving me a great opportunity to practice my stitching on an "easier to finish" size project!
"Baby Birds" is one of my favorite quilts...it's one of the smaller quilts in the book and could easily be made into a pillow!

I like the idea of hand quilting a mini .... but they'd be a great way to try out a new machine quilting pattern too! (I have only one quilt on my walls - it is small, from a kit, and the first project that I had the nerve to try free motion quilting with)
