There's Something About a Sampler...
This weekend I decided to set together the blocks from my Fat Quarter Shop 2011 Designer Mystery Block of the Month Quilt (Fabric Strawberry Fields by Joanna Figueroa for Moda). As I sewed, I kept thinking that there is just something about sampler quilts...especially those that might take a year to put together.
It's kind of bittersweet to finish up a project like this...a few months ago when I picked out my sashing post and border fabric, I couldn't wait to have the last block completed so I could have another finishl
But this weekend there was no rush. I so enjoyed putting the blocks together and savoring the sweetness of fabrics and designs. I remembered thinking how beautiful each block would be back when they arrived. The blocks in this quilt were pieced together over a year's time...a very busy year for me. I wondered if I had appreciated this quilt the way I should in the mix of all the other projects.
The binding is made, and this quilt will be off to the quilter this morning. I think I'll take my time sewing the binding on this one.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

it's lovely! i agree...sometimes these year-long quilts seem to just become part of our lives...and when they're done...well...they're just sorta "done". love the borders you chose...
It's so wonderful...this was truly one of my very favorite projects of all time. I couldn't wait for the last block to come and then I was sad when it was finished. Off to the quilter and I'll be happy again.
A lovely project .

How lovely, so soft. Beautiful job!
Very pretty. I love the fabric. So pastel and sweet.
That is such a sweet finish! I was worried if a plain sashing would do the blocks justice, after seeing the FQS finishing kit. But it looks perfectly precious. Love it!

It is lovely Sherri. I am working on the same quilt but I have been having some troubles with the blocks. I hope that mine will only look half as beautiful as yours. I am only six blocks in but was late starting.
Your quilt top iis gorgeous! I haven't decided yet how to put mine together. I do love the fabrics and the block patterns. I've signed up for the 2012 BOM!

It turned out so gorgeous. I love it. Can't wait to see it quilted. I love the little gingham binding!
Very nice. I like samplers if they have all coordinating fabrics. Scrappy samplers not so much. This one definitely turned out great.
