Scrappy Fall Quilt and More

Happy Friday! It’s officially fall here at my home–not because the temperatures say fall–but because I pulled out my favorite fall quilt yesterday and got it hung up!
I know I’ve shared this quilt on the blog at least a couple of times over the years, but it truly is a favorite. And it seems this mix of fall colors never goes out of style!

 This quilt marked one of my first attempts at applique’ (about 10 years ago, I think). I sewed interfacing to the right side of my fabrics, cut a slit in the interfacing and then turned the fabrics right side out.



I then used a machine buttonhole stitch to applique shapes to the backgrounds.

My friend Andrea who owns the Christmas Goose quilt shop in Las Vegas, Nevada did the amazing custom quilting on this.

 Every year when I bring this out I marvel all over again at her work; she took so much time and care with every block!

Not only does this quilt mark one of my first attempts at applique’, but it also showcases one of my first big scrappy quilts. I used fabrics from my stash and bought very little fabric to make this quilt.

I learned tons from making this quilt which is another reason it’s one of my favorites.

Scrappy quilts are so much fun! And because I love scrappy quilts, I strive to keep learning about mixing and matching fabrics.
