Scrappy 9-Patch Quilt Tutorial

Hello! Are you ready to make a scrappy 9-patch quilt? Here is the tutorial!

First, you’ll need to make 9-patch blocks with your 2 ½″ x 2 ½″ squares. You’ll need (30) 9-patch units for the smaller quilt and (42) nine patch units for the larger quilt.

After you have the 9-patch units ready, it’s time to add the sashing. Add two small sashing rectangles to the left and right sides of the quilt. Press toward the sashing rectangles.

Then, add the longer sashing rectangles to the top and bottom of the unit. Again, press toward the sashing rectangles.

Once you have your sashed 9-patches, you are ready to put your quilt together.

Sew 30 blocks in 6 rows of 5 blocks each or sew 42 blocks in 7 rows of 6 blocks each.

You will need to turn every other block so that the long sashing rectangles alternate between being on the sides of the unit and the top/bottom of the unit. This will make it so you don’t have to worry about matching those sashing strip seams.

Sew the blocks together into rows, and then sew the rows together!

Add the borders…quilt, and bind…
