Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 417: Lifestyle & More for Quilters post with a roundup of inspiration I’ve found from around the internet this week. I’ve had a busy week here–we taped two upcoming podcast episodes and a video, I finished my Block of the Month large quilt, and I got two quilts with an upcoming fabric collection off to the quilter!
We’ve also had the most beautiful weather this week with lovely rain and cooler temperatures. It really does feel like fall, and I’m loving it! Keep reading for all of the fun things from this week 🙂

Saturday Seven 417: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I loved this article by my friend Vanessa: Threads of Gratitude: How Sewing and Quilting Teach us to Slow Down and Appreciate the Process. I highly recommend this essay if you love savoring the slow and meaningful. (Erin’s writing is always nourishing to my soul–she has the most wonderful way of describing her days and encouraging others to notice the special things and take time for what matters).
2. Recipes to Try
I can’t wait to try this Sausage Potato Soup–a perfect simple meal for these busy days! These Slow-Roasted Sweet Potatoes come highly recommended. And I’m adding these Crunchy Brown Butter Baked Carrots to my holiday recipe rotation. Finally, if you’re looking to get a jumpstart on your holiday cooking this weekend, here are 40 Easy Make-Ahead Thanksgiving Recipes.

3. Quilt + Sew
Just one more week to get my Sea Breeze pattern for $5. Find it in both paper and PDF here. And if you are looking for Christmas small project sewing ideas–you’ll find lots of ideas here.
Finally…stay tuned for my post next week sharing details about my upcoming 2026 Block of the Month! The fun starts on Monday, January 5th!
4. Book and Podcast Recommendations
First, my friend Kristin released her November episode on Simple. Handmade. Everyday. I loved the Best of Both Worlds episode on “7 Daily Practices to Enhance Your Life (I ordered the book, too, so will keep you posted on that).” And I also loved Cal Newport’s “The Flexibility Myth.”

5. Candy Stripes Quilt Video
Chelsi just shared a new video about her brand-new Poinsettia & Pear collection Candy Stripes quilt. Watch it above or on our YouTube channel. And find the pattern in paper or PDF here.
6. It’s the Most Wonderful Time…
I loved this list of 25 Holiday Gift Exchange Themes! I also love these ideas for simple Christmas decorating with ribbons. And who says the season has to be so busy–I loved this piece about a Minimalist “No”vember.
