Hello and happy Monday! Today is Patchwork Quilt Along day, and I have some fun blocks to share! This month’s block is the “Homestead” block, and it goes together much more quickly than last month’s block!
I’m using reds, blues, and creams from my Minick & Simpson scrap bin, and boy
am I running low on reds! I think I’m going to have to buy a few different red prints to finish up this quilt!
Each month I pick a different cream/low volume background to use for that month’s blocks, and this month I picked one with a bit of red in it. I was worried that it was going to be too much, but I love the look! I’ll probably choose a blue on cream background for next month!
I cut my background and print square for the half-square triangles ⅛″ larger on all sides than called for in the pattern so I could trim them to the exact size.
I’m getting quite a collection of blocks now–thirty to be exact! There are lots of other quilters sewing along with this fun quilt along. You can download the free PDF pattern for this month’s block (and all of the other blocks) on the Fat Quarter Shop Patchwork Quilt Along page. And…you can see more progress on this quilt along on the blogs below!

blocks looking good best of luck looking for red fabrics here in the UK there is very little to choose from. Was tempted to join in on this challenge but resisted as I have so many other projects on the go.
