After working on so many big projects this month…I was ready to sew some small items. On Saturday I sewed these “boxy” bags I’ve been meaning to sew up for awhile; and, yes, I used my scraps to make them (fabrics Fresh Cottons and Bliss)!
Because of all of the talk about scraps these days (thank you, Jodi!), I’ve been really motivated to organize some of my stash.
Today I organized my Lecien stash using Lori’s method here (you’ll have to scroll down to nearly the end of the post, but you can see wonderful pictures of her amazing sewing room along the way). I plan on making several scrappy projects with these fabrics, so I took the time today to do some cutting.
I collected these fabrics over the past year from a variety of shops and really think they make a cute set. A few extra charms and fat quarters have been listed in my Etsy shop.
And I’ve continued to work on one of my favorite small projects ever! I have three flowers completed now and have them pinned and ready to applique’ them to the background fabric! What little things do you work on when you don’t feel like a major project?
Oh…and I’ve got a quilt that will be coming home soon–you can see it here…thank you Judi!

for me, a small object like a pincushion is a good way to keep me occupied when I don't feel like a big project. Sometimes a soft toy for one of the tots:) Congrats on getting some scraps organized!

Great fabrics! I like working on small projects lately, too. Need instant gratification. I like making small bags, like you. I also like having small hand embroidery projects or knitting to work on when I'm not in the mood for a big quilting project. I will be interested to read about this scrap cutting system. I have been meaning to try Bonnie Hunter's system for a few years now, but I can't seem to get any forward momentum going! I think I'm afraid to cut up my scraps, because what if I need a big piece of something (for applique or who knows what?)!!

I love your boxy bags! Perfect for travel. I love having little projects on the side, in between larger quilt-type projects. I like to make mini quilts or mug mats or storage cubes or just small patchwork piecing. Your hexagon flowers are looking beautiful!

I've seen bags like your boxy bags before, but I've yet to find a pattern. Did you use follow a pattern or just wing it?
Sewn With Grace says
Oh how darling! I want one! 🙂

I like the idea of making the flowers into appliques. I just put the borders on my hexagons, just a lap sized, but a lot of sewing by hand.
