Happy Friday! Today is favorites day…yay! I have several things to share today with the first one being a little mini quilt I made for the Moda Schoolhouse. Each designer was given a block pattern and asked to make it for market. We were able to do whatever we wanted as far as prints…and we were even able to finish as desired.
I had so much fun with mine…I really did have every color and type of fabric I
needed to make a cute mini with Desert Bloom. I quilted this one myself and had fun figuring out what type of quilting to do in each section. Our bird did end up with an embroidered eye and beak…after we took the picture. The blocks for the Moda Schoolhouse will be released this fall with a fun quilt along happening as well…watch for more on this later!
Another favorite is this gorgeous quilt my friend Elizabeth made for our booth at market (I received a few emails and comments about it from my booth photo post earlier this week). I sent her some fabric shortly after it arrived, and she designed this amazing quilt! It’s a beautiful combination of piecing and applique, and Elizabeth also did the machine quilting herself shortly after getting a new mid-arm quilting machine.
Another new favorite I have is subscription boxes…there are quite a few on the market recently, and I think they are a great way to try new fabrics and find out about products and notions you might not have heard about.
Stash Builder Box is a fabric/notion subscription box that donates 20% of the proceeds from each box sale towards making and providing quilts for children in need. Their boxes feature a fabric collection (you’ll receive about a yard), patterns to go with the fabric, and a few notions like thread or pins. May’s box featured fat quarters along with 2 patterns and a notion bag with thread, pins, a measuring tape and a seam ripper.
Cotton Crates is another subscription box; however, this box is for fabric lovers…each box is filled with 12 fat quarters. One unique thing about Cotton Crates is that they have a blog where they post small project ideas for the fabrics you receive in your box. May’s box featured 12 fat quarters of Backyard Roses by Ellis & Higgs…dreamy fabrics and colors.
Finally, Fat Quarter Shop also has a subscription box, the Sew Sampler box. May’s box included two charm packs and a table runner pattern, sewing tweezers, thread, buttons, and some bobbini bobbin holders. The Fat Quarter Shop box also includes a pattern card with a block pattern.
I feel like all of the subscription boxes are a good value, and it’s also fun that they all have the surprise element involved!
Finally…I got some of my favorite Bonnie & Camille background/blender prints the other day…these tiny dot prints are from the Little Ruby collection. I have yardage of each print and yard, half yard, and fat quarter bundles available in my shop.
Thanks so much for following along through all of the craziness of pre-market prep, and the post market photo overload!
Have a great weekend!

I like the idea of the subscription boxes. My hesitation: they are a lot like a mystery quilt. You never know what you are going to end up with; but worth the mystery.

Thanks for talking about my mini–it was fun to see it there! I hope you are recovering nicely, and heading into your summer with some free sewing time.

The Stash Builder Box sounds like a great idea. What's the lovely fabric from the May Box?
