This and That…and an Announcement!

September 5, 2013 by sherri McConnell |

Hello! Happy September again! I’m just so excited for fall–for the season, for cooler temperatures on the way, and for more time outside! I’ve been pretty busy this week with some secret sewing…above is something for Lori using her new collection Gracie Girl! I had so much fun sewing it for her and have a dozen ideas for projects using this fun collection (aren’t the vintage clocks so cute?!).

I had some fun mail arrive this past week, too. Have you heard about the Fat Quarter Shop Binding Box?  The binding box is a wonderful collection of 12 spools of my favorite thread, Aurifil.

I use Aurifil for all of my piecing and binding, and now with this collection I have the most often used colors at my fingertips. I especially appreciate having these threads since I live so far from any “local” quilt shops.

The green included in the box is going to be perfect for my Scrumptious greens (and it looks great with the Fig Tree greens, too).

Basically…the colors look great with the bundles I have lined up to sew with soon. Thanks so much Fat Quarter Shop for sending these terrific threads!

I also want to let you know I recently shared a little bit about my first quilt over at AnneMarie’s blog,  GenX Quilters. She has a fun series on her blog called “First Quilts on the First.” If you want to see a pretty old picture of me (from about 20 years ago…) and read a little about my first quilt, stop by her blog to read the post.

And now…for my announcement…I’m happy to share the cover image from my next book Fresh Family Traditions: 18 Heirloom Quilts for a New Generation
. I’ve been waiting and waiting…and well, today I noticed it was on Amazon already, so I figured I would make the announcement now! I’m really excited to share more, but that will have to wait a little longer!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

P.S. I noticed Sinta still doesn’t have her Schnibbles parade posted…I’m sure she’ll post it as soon as she has internet access again…
