Small Sampler Quilt + Sew Sampler & Cupid Box Reveals
2025 Block of the Month Small Sampler
Finishing up a project with the small blocks left over from my 2025 Block of the Month sewing was number one on my works in progress list for the year. I planned to get it finished up in January, and I was able to get it to my friend Vicki for quilting by the last day of the month. I finished up the binding the other night and am so pleased with the result–this one is going on the wall in my sewing room for sure!
Small Sampler Quilt Details
Although I included a table runner finishing option in the Block of the Month pattern for the six-inch finished blocks, I decided to go ahead and make a sampler quilt with my blocks. I am very happy with how it turned out, and it finished at approximately 25 ½″ x 32″–perfect for a wall hanging. Below you’ll find my basic finishing instructions for this sampler. 12-Block Sampler Setting (for 6″ finished blocks)
Note: all seams are ¼″. Wait to cut your borders until your quilt center is complete: use your quilt measurements.
Fabric Requirements:
- ⅜-yard sashing and inner border fabric
- 1 charm square (5″ x5″) for sashing posts
- ⅓-yard outer border fabric
- ¼ yard binding fabric
- ⅞ yard backing
Cutting:
- (12) 6″ x 6″ (finished–6 ½″ x 6 ½″ unfinished) quilt blocks
- (17) 1 ½″ x 6 ½″ sashing strips
- (4) 1 ½″ x 1 ½″ post squares
- (2) 1 ½″ side inner border rectangles (measure your quilt for accuracy)
- (2) 1 ½″ top and bottom inner border rectangles (measure your quilt for accuracy)
- (2) 2 ½″ (measure your quilt sides) outer border rectangles
- (2) 2 ½″ (measure your quilt top/bottom) outer border rectangles
- Cut 3 strips 2 ¼″ x width of fabric for binding.
