Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 414: Lifestyle & More for Quilters post with a roundup of inspiring things I’ve found around the internet this week. Keep reading for ideas for recipes, sewing, podcasts, seasonal ideas, and more. Here at home this week, I taped a fun podcast interview for an episode in November and have been getting ready to sew with sample yardage that should arrive in the next couple of weeks. I’ve been sewing some small projects lately, too, and can’t wait to show you my recent finishes. I’ve finished up a couple of small quilts and also just finished up a new tote I can’t wait to share–stay tuned.

Saturday Seven 414: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
We all have those days where we can’t seem to get anything done. Before considering the day a total waste, try this idea: If you can’t work, plan. I also loved this post with five ideas to simplify when you’re feeling a little chaos in your life.
2. Recipes to Try
Yesterday I had to make a meal for a family who is eating Keto, so I tried this Keto Chili–I highly recommend it and loved it so much that I made a second batch for us (although I did add chili beans to ours). I also might need to make this Cheesy Baked Pasta with Sausage and Ricotta. And I just heard from a friend that this Big Apple Crumb Cake is amazing. I love apple desserts and plan to make it soon.

3. Quilt & Sew
My friend Melissa just shared the 8-At-A-Time HST method with a printable size chart. My grandmother showed me this method years and years ago, and it really does save time.
And the October Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop just arrived, too. It’s a good one with the following products included:
- Evening on the Prairie collection by Melissa Gilbert for Riley Blake 10″ Squares
- Sewing Magnet Mate (a new-to-me notion)
- 5″ Square in a Square Foundation Paper
- Add a Quarter 1″ x 6″ Ruler
- Flowering Block 7
- October 2025 A La Carte Sew Sampler Box
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I loved listening to the Best of Both Worlds episode: “How to Fall in Love with your Weekends” this week. I also enjoyed this episode on “Coping with Digital Exhaustion” from the Before Breakfast podcast. (If you haven’t ever listened to the Before Breakfast podcast–I highly recommend it. The episodes are generally just a few minutes with interview episodes about 30 minutes. And there is always such good information in a compact format).

5. Sunny Days Quilt + Video
Chelsi just shared a video of one of her new patterns with our Poinsettia & Pear collection. I love the flowers and watermelons in her Sunny Days quilt. Watch the video above on our YouTube channel. And find the pattern in paper or PDF below.

6. Just a Couple of Random Finds…
I love Balboa Island in southern California because the houses are so fun to look at. I haven’t been in years but loved this post that showcased quite a few Balboa Island houses (scroll to the end to see). Also, I recently heard about the concept of an “analog fall” from this podcast episode. Read the original post here for a more detailed explanation with lots of good ideas for your own analog season!

Good morning! I love your patterns and am currently working on your BOM log cabin block pattern. Can you tell me the name of the pattern that’s pictured at the end of this blog post? The blocks are flowers with four leaves. That will be my next project. Thanks!
