Cozy Cottage Quilt Block

November 3, 2015 by sherri McConnell |

Happy Tuesday! Welcome to my stop on the Cozy Cottage blog tour. The new Cozy Cottage 2016 Calendar by Lori Holt is much more than a delightful calendar…it’s a calendar with patterns!

I was super excited to see the calendar with its gorgeous photos and fun designs. I couldn’t wait to make the cozy cottage block. And what is even better

is the fact that you can make the block in two different sizes, and there are also project instructions included for a mini quilt and pillow!

I used fabrics from Strawberry Fields Revisited for my block. Luckily I had some scraps from my Fig Tree sewing this fall! I always have so much fun picking fabrics for little blocks. Placing the fabrics on my design board is kind of like choosing a palette for a painting…

I made the 8″ cottage, but the other version is just 4″, and I can’t wait to make it too!

It’s going to be so much fun being able to hang this quilt in my sewing room this January. It would be cute in my laundry room, too…guess I’ll have to decide!

You can visit the Fat Quarter Shop Jolly Jabber blog for even more beautiful photos from the calendar and for links to all of the participating blogs. You can also visit Lori Holt’s blog here for a tutorial for a fun mini quilt using the Cozy Cottage block. When I saw her mini quilt I was glad I hadn’t decided what to do with my block yet…I’m going to make Lori’s mini with my cottage!
