Christmas Sewing

Hello and happy Monday! I hope you had a terrific first weekend in December!  I was able to check a big goal off of my list on Saturday--I finished the final blocks for my king-size scrappy log cabin Christmas quilt!

So...156 blocks made mostly during the month of November and finished up on

December 2nd...just a day later than my goal.  I'm hoping to sew them all together today (since they are all perfectly square it should go fast, right?)!

Earlier, I meant to share a post of how I lay out all of the parts and pieces for sewing the log cabin blocks together.  I think this is the only photo I got--and it's missing the strips for the final round...but I think you can get the idea.

I'm pretty excited about putting this all together!  You can find all of the information on this quilt here on the home page for this project.

After finishing up the blocks Saturday I decided to cut out my next Christmas quilt so it would be ready to go after I got the log cabins together.  I absolutely can't wait to share this one.  Hint: I'm making one of my previous patterns that I've always wanted to make in a Christmas excited!

And then there is this stack...apparently I've been purchasing red and green bundles last year and this year.  I was feeling a little guilty about these fabrics until I remembered that there is something I want to make for both of my daughters with them...and maybe for myself as well if there is enough fabric.  But this might have to be for next year...the log cabins and the Swell Christmas projects come first!  If you're still looking for Christmas fabrics to sew with for this year, there is a great selection here (with several sale items if you scroll down to the bottom of the page).

Thank you so much for the kind comments on the Saturday Seven post...I had a lot of fun putting it together and already have a list started for the next edition!

Have a great day, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Love your scrappy log cabin blocks and can't wait to see which pattern you make with the Swell fabric. Your red, white and green fabrics are great especially the B&C ones, of course. Perhaps add some of your red and green fabrics too would be great to see how they mix with the others.

Hopefully you will share with us how to put them together! I️ have my blocks all done for a twin size quilt and am waiting for instructions on how to finish!

Lovely, lovely blocks!

I too am hoping you post just how the blocks are going together. I have my blocks done (in a red, white & blue colorway), and want to see how you will lay out your quilt...

I absolutely LOVE using the log cabin ruler you suggested - it makes such wonderfully square log cabin blocks!

That log cabin is absolutely beautiful. I might have to get some more fig tree and do one this year
