Quilted Christmas Ornaments

Hello...I've been having fun sewing some Christmas ornaments!  Each year I try my hand at making a few new handmade ornaments.  I keep a few and give the others away to friends and family.  This is a tradition started by my Grandmother many years ago that I've tried to honor!

This year I decided one of my themes would be houses.  And I decided that the

little houses from the Mini Dwell pattern would make a perfect ornament! I'm really happy with how they turned out.  These ornaments use mostly fabrics from our The Front Porch and Creekside collections with a little bit of Fig Tree mixed in. I'm hoping to make a few more using some traditional bright reds and greens mixed with a little aqua, too!

I've also been wanting to make the "A Pear in a Tree" ornament for quite a while and finally had a little time to practice the other day.

I was happy with this one but think a bigger floral fabric might have been a bit cuter...and I definitely need to work a little on my pear shaping skills.  But this will be cute on the tree!

These two adorable ornaments were gifts this year in a little swap I participated in with an Instagram friend.  Aren't they beautiful?!  I absolutely love them!

If you love handmade ornaments, you might be interested in my little Log Cabin ornament tutorial from last year...you can find the post/tutorial here.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Quilting!

I love making homemade ornaments! Your house blocks are cute, love the pear one too. I'm with you on not having the best stuffing techniques. Thanks for the link to the log cabin ornaments. I sure have a ton of scraps that would look great as minis.

I finished my ornaments last week- I used orphan blocks and made little pillow ornaments. In the center I attached a pin. My mother used to be a teachers aid and had given me her pins several years ago. I made an ornament for the ladies in my family with one of my moms pin in the center. I will need to check out your log cabin ornament tutorial. Thanks for the wonderful ideas-you always have beautiful projects. :)

What a sweet idea! Love your cute ornaments. I always call our Christmas tree a memory tree, because we too have many handmade items hanging from it from dear friends, and from our own family. It surrounds us with wonderful memories and love each season. Your mini dwell house ornaments are especially lovely!

Hi Sherri, I love your handmade ornaments. It's my first Christmas without my son who was killed last May in a car accident. I'm trying to make it though. And seeing your quilted ornaments just seemed to help me. They remind me of the kind of Christmas I grew up with. Thanks for sharing them.

Merry Christmas!
