Favorites | New Quilting Finds

Hello and happy Monday! This is going to be a crazy busy week with Thanksgiving less than three days away!  I'm hoping to finish up my grocery shopping today and be able to stay in, prepare...and keep working on my sewing projects until the big day!

While at International Quilt Market last month I fell in love with an upcoming

Christmas collection, Swell Christmas by Urban Chiks for Moda fabrics. Several years back, Urban Chicks did the original Swell and Sweet collections that were big favorites of mine (I still have pieces from both collections in my stash).  And now I can hardly wait to work with this collection.  In fact...I have a project in mind (I'll be re-making one of my earlier patterns) that I want to start as soon as I finish my scrappy Log Cabins.

The first step is untying that bow...and I've also already ironed these fat quarters! That's the second step to sewing with a new fat quarter bundle!

A new-to-me notion is the Binding Babies trim holder. They are a cute way to hold and store bindings, laces, ribbons, and trims and  come in a few different sizes and a variety of colors and designs.

Also, I think I've shared the new Moda clothespins sets before, but now they have an adorable Christmas set in all red designs...along with the Merry & Bright Set in reds and greens! So cute...I can just picture a fun garland using these pins to hang small stockings!

This next product isn't really quilting related, but I picked up these Dryer Balls at Quilt Market this fall (actually, my husband found them while wandering the show one afternoon).  I had been wanting to try these for awhile and came home with two sets of 6.  I've been using them ever since and haven't once missed my dryer sheets.  I do put drops of lavender and lemon essential oil on the balls every few washes which gives a great scent to my laundry.  I just found out that Fat Quarter Shop is now carrying wool dryer balls, too!

Over the weekend I finished up adding the trunks to my Mini Juniper table runner I shared the other day!  Can't wait to get this one quilted and add a red binding!  (The pattern for this runner is from the book Anka's Treasures Angles with Ease Bk Back).  This is a fast and fun project that goes together quickly and would make a great gift project because of how fast you can put it together.  I mixed in some fun aqua prints from our Bright Sun and Desert Bloom collections along with a Moda Dottie in aqua and love how they mixed with the Kate Spain reds and greens!

In fact, while I was pulling aqua prints for this project I found that I had a lot of extra and cut up a few bundles to add to the shop (bundles include the three prints I used in my runner along with an aqua Bella solid and are available in fat quarters or half yards).

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Quilting!

That bundle of Christmas fabrics is so cute. Will be on the lookout for them when they're released. And I'm not familiar with the wool dryer balls. I definitely want to get some though. Thanks for the info.

What essential oils do you use on your dryer balls? Does the oil ever get on your clothes? I’d really like to try this. Thanks!
