Christmas Cabins Quilt Along

Hello! Today I'm sharing something I'm pretty excited about...a Christmas Log Cabin quilt along!  This is a spur of the moment idea I came up with while cleaning up in my sewing room this weekend (I actually did a lot less cleaning than planned but a lot more sewing in return)!

There is a little back story to go along with this, too.  I can't remember the year

This month's block, "Country Roads," is simple but striking!  I'm continuing to

Christmas Layer Cake Quilt

Hello and happy Friday! I'm so excited to share this quilt with you today.  I know Christmas is still a little ways off, but now is the time to start holiday sewing, right?  Anyway...this is one of those quilts that I knew I was going to make early in June--it's just taken a little while to get it finished up!

You might remember that in June I released a super fun Layer Cake quilt along with a tutorial for putting it all together (yes, all of the blocks can be made from just one Layer Cake).  My Hometown quilt is one of my favorites, and as soon as I finished I started thinking about how fun it would be to make a Christmas version.

I finally got it cut out a couple of weeks ago and sewed block pieces together in-between doing some secret Quilt Market sewing.  Then just last week I finished the blocks and started setting them together this week.

For sashing I used the green dot from the Bonnie & Camille collection Little Ruby. It added such a fun contrast to the blocks and backgrounds!  The blocks and outer border are pieced from the Sweetwater Holly's Tree Farm collection while the sashing posts, setting triangles, inner border and backing are from their The Cookie Exchange group.

I'm just a little bit giddy about this one and will be sending it off for quilting right away.  I'll be sure to share as soon as it gets back!  The pattern is available in paper and PDF in my Etsy shop.  Also...what is even more fun is that I still have scraps left over (I had cut my Layer Cake squares from left-overs of a Fat Quarter Bundle) and have some more fun projects in mind. These collections aren't readily available any more, but this quilt would be a lot of fun in the Sweetwater Hometown Christmas Edition Layer Cake or for a more modern look, the Merry Merry by Kate Spain Layer Cake!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend...thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Quilting!

Mini Quilt Finishes

Happy Monday!  Recently I had to send a magazine quilt out for quilting and at the last minute decided to send along two mini quilts I just haven't been able to get finished up.  I usually try to quilt most of my mini quilts myself, but these two were sitting quite a while!

Kaitlyn did a cute all-over clam shell design on one and simple straight lines on

Easy Corner Stems Tutorial

Hello friends, today I'm sharing a step-by-step tutorial for making easy corner stems. My Maple Sky quilt pattern and my Maple Sky Mini quilt pattern both use this method for creating the stem sections of the blocks, and I thought it would be helpful to have a step-by-step visual for reference. This is also the same method to use for making signature blocks.

While this block unit can also be done using the technique of paper piecing (see

Berry Baskets Mini Quilts

Hello October...my favorite time of the year has arrived! Sadly, though, I must first say that my heart goes out to all affected by the horrific tragedy in Las Vegas last night.  My husband and I were up late last night, unable to sleep until we knew that our friends and loved ones were home safe (we have close friends and family members who were present in the venue and in the areas surrounding; while they are all physically okay, there will be trauma to deal with from this event for years to come).  If you believe in the power of prayer, please pray for the victims, the families, and the twenty-two thousand plus who experienced this awful event in one way or another.

Today is the day for the Berry Baskets mini quilt parade!  I'm a little bit partial
