Introducing Lattice and Porch Swing!

Hello! Today I get to begin to share what I've been working on for the past month or so...Chelsi and I have a new collection with Moda fabrics that is now showing to shop owners and which will ship in's called The Front Porch! I've designed 5 new quilts + 1 new mini quilt to go along with this collection, and I can't wait to share each and every one!

The Front Porch fabrics are a beautiful mix of prints and patterns that will blend well with our previous Desert Bloom and Creekside collections. We hope you'll love it! And the first new quilt I'm sharing is one of my Lattice quilt which is a fun take on the traditional churn dash block!

I love churn dash blocks, and what better than to mix different size blocks, with

a variety of low-volume backgrounds?! I'm a little more than in love with this quilt...I don't want to let it out of my sight (which is why it's been in my living room since I finished the binding and photography)!

This quilt is designed for fat quarters (but you can definitely use scraps as well)...I used the entire fat quarter bundle and added in just a little extra background fabric (though directions are given if you'd like to use just one background fabric, too)! You can see from some of these photos how the low-volume scrappy backgrounds really add a fun element to this quilt!

My friend Marion did the lovely quilting on this and used small scale orange peels all over...adding even more texture to the mix!  Lattice finishes at 70 1/2" x 82" and is just the perfect size!

Next I'd like to introduce you to Porch Swing, a fast and fun jelly-roll pattern! There is something about this block that I just love...and you can make each block out of one fabric or mix and match prints like I did!  I also used the low-volume jelly roll strips for some of the background fabric for this quilt because they are just the perfect backgrounds!

Marion quilted this using the traditional Baptist fan design...sure love this one!  Porch Swing is a perfect lap quilt, finishing at 56" x 70"; it was the first quilt I pieced with The Front Porch fabrics and is another favorite!

I had to share this picture as well...there was a slight breeze the day I took the pictures as a storm was beginning to move in, and I thought it was fun to see the quilt in motion.

The new patterns are available in my Etsy shop now.  PDF versions of Lattice and Porch Swing are available for immediate download, and paper patterns will ship in 1-2 weeks.  There are also some pattern specials available this week if you are purchasing any combination of 3 paper patterns or all 6 of my new paper patterns.  Okay...I'll be back tomorrow to share two more quilts! And...later this week I'll be sharing close ups and details of all of the fabric prints and color choices!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I love the Churn Dash quilt! The quilting on both quilts is spectacular and adds such dimension. They are inspiring me for quilting on future quilts!
