Hometown Layer Cake Quilt

Hello and happy Friday! I'm super excited to share my new Hometown Layer Cake quilt pattern...and yes, all of the blocks in the quilt are made with just one Layer Cake (or 36 squares 10" x 10")!

A few weeks before Quilt Market I was lucky enough to receive a Layer Cake of

the upcoming Minick & Simpson fabric collection, Ann's Arbor. I fell in love with the collection at first sight and wanted to make something right away. But since the fabric won't be available until later this summer I knew I needed to make very good use of my Layer Cake!

All of the blocks and block backgrounds (and even the sashing posts) are cut from just one Layer Cake! I did use fabric from my stash for the sashing, setting triangles, inner and outer borders and binding. (The light fabrics are from a couple different Minick & Simpson collections, the border fabric is from Grand Traverse Bay and the binding is from Miss Scarlet).  My friend Marion did a beautiful job with the closely spaced wavy lines quilting. I love how it adds so much movement to the quilt!

I used the border fabric for my backing too...have I mentioned that I love this quilt!  And...if you're nervous about putting together an on-point quilt, I did a full tutorial using this quilt as my sample here.

I took a lot of pictures of this quilt...I'm pretty partial to it right now! Not only is this a great pattern for your favorite red, white and blue fabrics, but it will also be great in just about any fabric style (a Christmas one might be in the near future for me)!

Hometown Layer Cake patterns are available now in my Etsy shop--PDF's are available for download with paper patterns shipping next week!

Hope you enjoy making "Hometown"!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
