Splendid Sampler Quilt Finish

Happy Monday! Over the weekend I was able to finish up my Splendid Sampler lap quilt! It's always nice to have a finish, but this quilt is one I've been working on for over a year, so it was an especially nice one!

I finished the piecing and assembly of this quilt the day our Creekside fabric

arrived, and then as soon as I finished sewing the new patterns I pieced the backing for this and sent it off to Kaitlyn for quilting! We decided on an all-over orange peel to keep with the classic feel of many of the blocks, and to add movement without being too overwhelming!

I can't wait to use this quilt...there is just something a bit more sentimental about a quilt that takes a longer time to complete! I love looking back at sampler quilts I've made, too--it's good to make note of the block design styles and fabric combinations I really love for future projects!

I definitely have a lot of favorite blocks in this quilt...

I went with a red polka dot for the binding...I felt like it sort of needed that as the final frame to tie everything together with the aqua border (and I had it in my stash, so that was a win-win). I used a creamy text print from the Chestnut Street collection for the backing--the backing and the outer border were the only fabrics I purchased for this quilt...the rest came from scraps!

You can find more specific details about this quilt on this post...and you can pre-order  The Splendid Sampler: 100 Spectacular Blocks from a Community of Quilters now (it ships next month).

Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Such a beautiful quilt Sherri! And such a labor of love!! And all from scraps except the border and backing: a great thing!! Is your scrap basket lighter now? I'm guessing not, now that you have 5 new quilts that you just made!! :-) Have a wonderful week! Hugs, H

You do such beautiful work and your fabric choices are always beautiful, too. I would love to see pictures of the entire quilt - this one and all the others you complete too! That would be inspiring.
