Easy Quilt-As-You-Go Place Mats

Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start! This weekend I finally got around to making some place mats with some of our Creekside fabric. For quite a while now I've been wanting to make place mats using Soft & Stable instead of interfacing; since I love the way Soft & Stable works in bags, I thought it might be fun to see if it would make a difference for place mats, too.

I absolutely love the way they turned out, and I will be making all of my place

New Patterns | Wallhanging + Mini

Hello! I'm so excited to be able to share two new patterns today. These have been on my "to do" list for a little while, and over the weekend I got them back from the quilters, bound, and the pattern writing finished up! One is a true mini quilt, and the other is a wall hanging, and they are both my favorites right now!

First up is my Starry Night mini. I love the full size version of this pattern but new it would also be really great in a mini size (see the original post on the full-size Starry Night quilt here).

Mini Quilts

Hello and happy Monday...and happy April! Today I have a couple of mini quilts to share for our April Minis and More parade...and a fun option to let you know about for our May parade!

I love the versatility of mini quilt can use your finished quilt as a pillow front, table topper, wall hanging or more...And Hildy made her mini into

a lovely pillow this month! The pattern for our parade is the Mini Ferris Wheel pattern by Joanna Figueroa. It's a fun little block that is actually much easier than it looks!

I love the Olive's Flower Market border and striped pink binding Hildy used! And I spy some Farmhouse in her block centers!

Karen used Simply Colorful by V & Co for her mini quilt... I love this bright spring version!

I meant to make a few more blocks...but with all of the market sewing the only one I can share is the one I made a couple of months ago to add to my Splendid Sampler quilt. You can see from Hildy's, Karen's, and my version that there are really a lot of possibilities with this design!

Photo by Camille Roskelley of Thimbleblossoms

And...we picked a fun mini for this month, too! We'd love if you'd make the mini Vintage pattern this month and send a photo to me or Michele by the end of the month for our May parade! This pattern is a mini version of the large quilt from Camille's book Simply Retro with Camille Roskelley: Fresh Quilts from Classic Blocks .  This will be a great projects for using scraps and will make a terrific pillow front, table topper, or mini!

Be sure to stop by Michele's blog today to see more versions of this month's Mini Ferris Wheel quilt!

Thanks so much for stopping by...and I hope your week is off to a great start!

Tips for Using Orphan Blocks

Hello and happy Thursday! While doing a little cleaning in my sewing room this week I happened upon my stash of orphan blocks. Orphan blocks are extra blocks made to test block patterns or blocks that were made for quilts or projects that never got used. As I was sorting through my found "treasures" I started thinking of all of the different ways I could use them...and that gave me the idea for this post!

If you have a few of these unused blocks sitting somewhere in your sewing

Creekside Fabric Collection

Hello and happy Friday! Today I'm excited to be able to show you our new Creekside fabric collection for Moda fabrics...with lots of close-up photos!  Creekside was inspired by the beautiful area where my Mom lived when Chelsi was a young girl. There was a beautiful creek not too far away from my Mom's home, and wildflowers grew along the path to the creek. The skies were always bright and blue, and there were birds and wildlife of every kind that lived in the area.

This collection is delightful, and although I've been sewing with it non-stop since
