Hello! I've recently been doing a little birthday sewing for my oldest daughter (I'm really thankful my girls both like hand made gifts)! She requested a couple of items I've previously made and like to make, so that made it even easier.
First she requested a new iPad case. A few years ago I made several of these
for Christmas gifts, and really loved this terrific pattern (iCase pattern by Annie). The front flap has a Velcro closure, and you can use the zipper pocket on the back of the case to store just about anything. I keep ear buds in the zipper pocket to use when I travel, and I've also kept pen and paper for notes inside the case.
Soft & Stable gives just the right amount of padding for the case. Two sizes are included in the pattern, and you can also easily make adjustments if needed depending on the device.
She also requested a flat iron / curling iron storage case (two are good to have if you use both a curling iron and a flat iron). A couple of years ago I made these for the girls in the family, and they were a big hit--I used the Travel Essentials pattern by Annie.
This is a really simple pattern to make; you end up with a case with one pocket for the iron and another pocket to use to stow the cord. Because these are lined with Soft & Stable they are padded and absorb the heat. I always pack my flat iron last and love being able to put it in the travel case and then add it to the suitcase.
I used fabrics from our Valley collection for the flat iron case and Desert Bloom fabrics for the iPad case. I'm running low on some of my favorite Desert Bloom fabrics and can't wait for it to ship so I can stock up!
I highly recommend both of these patterns for gift giving (Christmas is going to be here before we know it). I made both items pretty quickly after having cut them out the night before.
What are your go-to gift ideas? I've got quite a bit of gift making to do in the next few weeks!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
