Splash of Color Blog Tour

Happy Thursday! Today is my day on the Splash of Color Blog Tour! My friend (and blog sponsor) Jackie of Canton Village Quilt Works wrote a beautiful book, Splash of Color: A Rainbow of Brilliant Black-and-white Quilts, and I am happy to be able to share a little bit about it today (read on to the end for a chance to win an e-copy of her book)!

Jackie's book is a beautifully done book with colorful quilts that are a delight to look at. One of my favorite quilts is called "Climbing Mountains."

The Farmer's Wife 1930's Sew Along

Happy Tuesday! I'm excited to be able to share a little more information about something I hinted at a couple weeks ago...the Farmer's Wife 1930s Sew Along with Fat Quarter Shop and Gnome Angel. This is going to be so much fun--there will be a couple of blocks a week with block tutorials and conversion charts from Marti Michell if you are interested in using templates for your blocks. There will be a big group of bloggers taking turns posting their progress each week, so there will be lots of quilty inspiration for this project.

I made the original Farmer's Wife quilt from the author's first book, The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt: Letters from 1920s Farm Wives and the 111 Blocks They Inspired , a couple of years ago, and it is a favorite quilt of mine. I'm excited to be making this new quilt for a number of different reasons...

Little Finishes and Scrap Management

Happy Monday! I had just a little sewing time over the weekend...but it was enough for a small finish and some scrap management! I've been trying to get a handle on my scraps...I love them so much and want to be sure I use them!

These fabrics might look familiar, but they're not from the older Fig Tree fabric collection Strawberry Fields...they are from the upcoming Fig Tree collection Strawberry Fields Revisited...more on that later...

Red and Green Quilt Sampler Blocks

Happy Friday! It's finally starting to feel a little "fallish" here in my corner of the world...morning lows in the 60's signal the end of the hundred and teens for us...hopefully our 6-7 months of beautiful weather is here to stay.

With fall ever-so-readily approaching I've been pushing myself not only to get caught up on things that have needed my attention but also to get a little more organized for the crazy fall market sewing soon to come. So since the next installment of my Mystery Red and Green quilt blocks  came the other day (a block of the month quilt I've been doing from Fig Tree), I decided to tackle this work in progress first.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! My work in progress this week is my Mini Vintage Tulips quilt. I had so much fun working on this the other day! And now I just need to get it quilted, bound, and up on my sewing room wall!

You might notice that the navy squares I had in my original post about this quilt didn't make the final cut.

Snapshots Quilt Along: Kitty Quilt Block

Happy Tuesday! It's the fifteenth of the month (already?!), so that means it's Fat Quarter Shop Snapshots quilt along day! And even crazier is the fact that this month's block is block 9. Just three more blocks to go, and our quilt will be finished!

This month's block is a kitty on a quilt...so cute!

Mini Quilt Monday

Happy Monday! It was a busy, busy weekend here at home (we had a baby shower here at the house for my older daughter who is expecting in October), but I did manage to sneak in a little sewing! Sometimes it seems like if I can just sew for thirty minutes then all is well.

So when I had a few minutes the other night I got my Vintage Tulips Mini quilt cut out. I used scraps from several Bonnie & Camille fabric collections, and I even cut out all of the background pieces from my background scrap bin.

Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt

Happy Thursday! Tuesday morning I stopped by the post office after the holiday weekend and was thrilled to find my scrappy log cabin quilt had arrived home. By Tuesday evening I was binding, and on Wednesday I took the final pictures. There might be a little photo overload in this post because I am madly in love with this quilt!

My friend Abby did the straight line quilting on this quilt which worked perfectly for such a busy quilt...

Fabric Baskets

Over the weekend I had a chance to sew a couple of my favorite fabric baskets...the Noodlehead Divided Basket Pattern.  These two are number 5 and number 6 I've made from this pattern, and one is finally for me!

Yes, I've given 5 of these away and always wanted one for my sewing room--so when I started one for a gift this weekend I decided to make two and keep one. Three of these baskets have now been given as baby gifts...they are just the perfect size to store diapers and other baby things. The basket with the yellow floral print is actually for my older daughter's nursery (she is expecting a little girl to arrive sometime in October)!

Pre-Cut Primer Blog Tour

Happy Tuesday, and welcome to my stop on the Pre-Cut Primer blog tour with Barb & Mary of Me & My Sister Designs and the Fat Quarter Shop! I've been super excited to share this book and especially this quilt since I was able to piece it for Barb and Mary last spring!

I was able to piece the 9th grade quilt with the Farmhouse collection by Fig Tree and Company! it was a super fun collection to work with, and this quilt showcased the collection beautifully! I think this pattern will work with any collection--and, there are many other fun patterns in Barb and Mary's book, too!

Red and Green Quilt Blocks

Happy Friday! Today is the first day of a four-day weekend for me, and I'm excited to get to sew some fun things! I've just finished a crazy busy couple of weeks of sewing working on projects I can't share just yet (a couple of market quilts and a magazine project), and I have a whole list of things I'd like to get done in the next few days!

I started out by working on the recent installment of blocks in my Fig Tree red and green mystery block of the month sampler.

I really want to stay on track with this quilt so I'll be able to use it this Christmas...so I've been trying extra hard to stay caught up.

Wednesday Favorites

I was actually hoping to post this last week, but because of camera issues...and a pretty busy schedule...here it is today! First up is a little table topper I made with the block design from my Charm Pack Placemats tutorial.

We have a little table in our family room that seats 4, and I like to have a centerpiece to use to set a napkin basket on. So I pulled some of my scraps together and used nine blocks for the topper (you might notice I used a little nine patch in the center along with eight of the rail fence blocks).

Mini Christmas Tree Quilts

Happy Tuesday! Two days...and two parades! Today is the day for the Minis and More Mini Juniper parade...and after today's parade we will be drawing our quarterly prize winners!

Sadly, my quilt is still in the same condition you saw it last. I just can't decide on a border. I'm actually thinking about doing scrappy greens (inspired by Michele's version here). Anyway...here is our little parade and our announcement for the next pattern!
