I started working on my quilt over the weekend, and then Monday evening I started putting parts and pieces together. If you are afraid of sewing with diamonds; it's easier than one might think, and this pattern is actually very forgiving.
Joanna offers tips for working with these pieces throughout her pattern, and as she suggests in the pattern, her Craftsy class on angles Smarter Strip Quilting is really a terrific way to learn to work with diamonds, including the diamonds in this pattern.
Michele has recently posted a few tips about this pattern here (her blocks are super cute)...and...I should also mention that the blocks are over-sized and then trimmed, so that also gives you a little extra wiggle room. If you need to, you can even trim the blocks slightly smaller than called for and then adjust the sizes of the sashing, post and border pieces accordingly.
I've decided on my post fabric, but need to choose sashing so I can set these together.
Fabrics: Greens are from three different Fig Tree collections: Somerset, Aloha Girl, and Farmhouse. The tree base triangles and tree trunks are from Farmhouse, and the background is Moda Dottie in a light tan.
Hope you are sewing along...thanks so much for stopping by!
