Have you heard about the Sweet Scandinavian Sew Along by Sherri Falls of This & That patterns? It has just started, so it's not too late to join in. You can find all of the information on Sherri's blog here. Also, this isn't just any regular sew along...Sherri is putting together this quilt and will be auctioning it on Ebay with all proceeds going to the Susan G Komen foundation. I will be sure to let you know after the blog tour has ended and the quilt is available for bidding.
My kit and instructions from Sherri included supplies to make three of the large main star blocks. I am in love with this block, and it was super easy to put together.
First you make some simple four-patch blocks.
Then you make the star point units using the corner triangle method. I used The Angler for these units so I wouldn't have to draw diagonal lines on the backs of the fabrics--but the diagonal line method is just as accurate. Be sure to look at the diagram in the pattern (or here on my blog post to get the correct placement for these units).
Assemble two mirror-image star point units, a four-patch unit, and a solid square to make the star sections. You will make four of these for each block.
Star point units are put together with a rectangle of background fabric. This was really nice because there was no need to worry about matching seams.
Next you add the center sashing unit...
And then you add another star point unit to complete your block. It really is a fun block, and the quilt is gorgeous. Hope you'll sew along!
The rest of the stops on the blog tour are as follows:
August 5 Vickie with the corner blocks.

Wow! What a stunning quilt this will be!!
A beautiful quilt and a wonderful gesture from Sherri.
It really is pretty and will be so fun to see all of them over quilt blogland.
Fun! It would be fun to do a quilt along sometime, but I'm not ready yet.
Beautiful fabrics. I'm assuming that this must be a promotion for a Christmas line. I'm not finding a line that has the "blue" shown in the picture. Maybe my computer screen color scheme is a bit off. Can you give me any direction or suggestions for finding this blue?
Would people still support Komen if they knew the group is a big self-serving business that misleads women with deceptive information on breast cancer (see the epilogue in this article: http://www.supplements-and-health.com/mammogram.html )?
What a beautiful block!
Hi. I'm following the Scandianvian QAL. I missed Modalissa's blocks on the 12th. So now when I click on your link for her it goes to July 29th. I'm confused. A little help please. kat3353@gmail.com Thanks
I'm new at this quilting but just love the Sweet Scandinavian block - but I need measurements for the cutting of the pieces - how do I get them?
