Simply Small Quilt Projects

Welcome to Simply Small parade day where I showcase simple projects made with 2 1/2" squares. As I thought about what to make for this month's pattern, I immediately thought of scrappy place mats perfect for summer get togethers and 4th of July celebrations (if you are here in the U.S.).  I've made two this morning already and will definitely be making more. The pattern is written to make four place mats, so be sure to adjust accordingly if you are making a different number. I've sent patterns to today's parade participants, and the pattern is available in my Craftsy shop for anyone else who would like to participate.  The pattern is perfect for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas themed tables, too, so if you want to get a head start for the fall holidays you could start getting these ready for those holiday table settings.  Okay...on with the parade of more projects made with 2 1/2" squares.

Cheryl used the spools pattern by Edyta Sitar for her fun small project.

Gai used the Moda Bakeshop pattern Candy Flowers pillow.

Janet used my simple star pillow pattern...I absolutely love this one!

Jennifer made this fun Moda Bake Shop potholder...

Joy made this cute patchwork scrappy bag using her 2 1/2" squares.

Pati made two pillows using my pattern.

I also love this version of my pillow pattern!

And Susan has been looking for a cross-body patchwork bag pattern...but decided to make up her own design...love this!

Okay...I can't wait to see all of the placemats in next months parade. But before I go, I just wanted to highlight a few other new patterns made with Moda Candy squares!

The new Fig Tree mini pattern "Mini Blossom" uses Moda candy squares, (find the "Mini Blossom" here and...
Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. has 8 new "Little Bites" patterns all made with 2 1/2" squares: "Whit," "Trace," "Sample," "Scintilla," "Grain," "Titch," "Ort," and "Slice." I have several of Carrie's patterns on my to do list this summer. You can find her patterns in PDF and Paper here.

If I've left out your project for this month...please email me with a new photo, and I'll add it in asap!

Be back tomorrow with more summer organizing! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I sent a picture of my little zip bag a few days ago, yet not here in the parade. That's ok, still will work on the placemats (my Christmas box still needs filling)

You can make so many things with 2.5" squares! Love your idea of scrappy placemats for summer picnics and 4th of July parties.

Everyone's projects are just wonderful. I haven't had a chance to work on any for a little while. But I did manage to finish a baby quilt and a large Granny Square quilt so I've been working on big projects!
