So yesterday was tough...I don't know if any of you have ever had this problem...but I finally decided it was time to take my machine in for a routine cleaning and service. I've had my machine about 18 months, and with all the sewing I do I knew it was definitely time. I clean all the lint from my bobbin case and the areas I can reach after every 5 bobbins...but it was time. There are only 2 machines ahead of me, so she shouldn't be gone too long...but it sure was hard to leave my machine at the shop! I do have a great backup machine (my main machine is a Janome Memory Craft 6600, and my backup is a Janome Gem Platinum), but it's just not the same. Anyway...
...thanks so much for all of the wonderful insight on my Farmer's Wife dilemma--I really appreciate all of the ideas and input. For now I'm continuing on. I made a list last night of 10 blocks of the remaining 26 that I'm okay with doing. Each little pile in the photo above is one block cut out and ready to sew;I'm hoping to cut out the rest of the blocks on my list today. Oh, and the tumblers in the first photo were cut from a couple of charm packs of Odds & Ends by Cosmo Cricket for Moda. It's such a fun line (actually I've loved each of their collections) to sew with, and I have the perfect spot for this runner after I get it quilted today(after I fix the little pucker that I didn't notice until looking at the photo just now).
I mentioned recently that it was my 4-year blogiversary on July 1st. Thank you so much for the good wishes! I can't even tell you how grateful I am I decided to start this little blog...I know I've said it before...but I have learned so much from the on-line quilting/sewing/crafting community of bloggers! I really appreciate every comment, every insight, and every post I've learned from. I am quite certain that I have received more than I could ever give.To say a small thank you, I've decided to do a giveaway each Saturday for the rest of the month. First choice is a copy of The Civil War Sewing Circle by Kathleen Tracy along with a copy of the recent issue of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks. I love the Civil War Sewing Circle book so much that I bought it twice!
The other choice today is this wonderful collection of Riley Blake fabrics...nearly 7 yards of the Bella Blvd. Collection.
The fabrics will make the free project sheet quilt pictured to the right with everything included other than the backing. Thanks so much to Lollipos & Notions, an on-line Etsy seller, for sending along this fabric.
Just leave one comment on this post, please, letting me know which giveaway item you'd prefer if your name is picked. Thanks so much...and have a wonderful weekend!
Edit: The giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Sarah who won the fabrics and to Anna who won the books!
