My Favorite Little Bags

I got into my scrap bins and made a few of my favorite "go-to" small bags today.  First, I made a couple using my Ruby scraps.

I've been using the "Abby's Treasure Box" pattern to make these fun little bags for a couple of years now.  I can't say enough good things about this pattern--it's well-written, and it makes putting in the zipper a snap! You only need a zipper, some batting scraps, one fat quarter for the lining and 12 charm squares to make the bags. I rarely use charm squares, though--I just use small scraps.
Also, these little bags seem to be the perfect size for so many uses.  I've used mine to hold sewing notions, to store my binding clips, and to keep make-up and small items organized in my purse.

I made a couple with my Strawberry Fields scraps, too.  I like to have a few of these on hand to use for gifts.  I am going to keep one for myself out of this batch--I just haven't decided which one.  I'm just wondering if anyone has any other "go-to" patterns you use all the time for small gifts.  I'm always looking for simple-to-make gift ideas!

Some new fabric arrived this week, too.  I absolutely love every piece in Joel Dewberry's new Heirloom line.  His booth at market was amazing. I had to choose between the three color-ways, though, and finally decided on the Sapphire palette.  The Citrine palette is absolutely gorgeous, too--I ordered just a few fat quarters from that grouping and can't wait until they arrive.

I'll have another Farmer's Wife post coming up soon--I thought that in making all 111 blocks I'd have a king-sized quilt, but you need to make 34 duplicate blocks for the king.  Since I'm now behind instead of ahead as I thought I was, more of these blocks are next on my list!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Your bags are darling Sherri. I love that little pattern. One of my Go-to patterns is little notebook covers. So fun to make and I keep some on hand.

I love these bags! So far, I've made one as a gift and have kept one for myself. Right now it's holding my nail polishes. :) I need to make a few of these for gifts to have on hand also.

What adorable bags! I love the 'sturdy little husky' look of them...very masculine, somehow. Have you ever made them a bit larger for use as travel kits for men?

Those little bags are adorable Sherri. And so handy, for most everything. Another thing I love them for is all the oddball cords and chargers that float around -- camera, phone, etc. Very handy!
